The back liftgate on my van quit working without warning, causing it to fall down on my 4 yr old child. If you have felt the weight of this, you would know that it is very heavy, especially when falling on a kid. His leg got crushed between the gate and the van, and caused injury. I called the hotline, but they proceeded to tell me that even though there was a recall for this problem, it did not include my particular VIN number. Really? So Ford is trying to tell me that the same problem happened on the same year and model, but it could not possibly be included in the recall? His explanation was they are not all manufactured in the same plant, so therefore aren't related. I call bullsh@t! Toyota, for example, also has vehicles made in multiple plants around the world, but they STILL had to recall the airbags because they used the same supplier (Takata) for the parts. Duh! Ford, it is okay to have a defective part from a supplier, but at least own up to it. Even though they are doing nothing about this obvious potentially dangerous issue, I hope that readers will now be aware of this.
