Mustang 5.0L V8

2018 mustang gt with 28,000 miles. The car lunges forward when coming to a stop for some reason. The 10 speed transmission almost acts like its upshifting when coming to a stop. I'm not sure if there's a fix to it. Ive seen a few other complaints with the 10 speed f150s that have the same problem, it must just be normal for the brand new gm/ford 10 speed. I stop farther back from vehicles at stop lights now. I don't want the car to lunge into the back of their car.

Mustang Convertible Ecoboost 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50 miles

New 10 speed automatic transmission on 2018 Mustang does a really poor job guessing the right gear. It shifts randomly, takes too long to shift, etc. I've read a few online reviews confirming my experience. Curious if more people see this, and if Ford can fix it via a software update perhaps.

Mustang 2.3L Ltr 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 500 miles

My Mustang has the same 10 speed trans which is in all the F150s with auto trans. All these are having same multiple problems. Shifting hard when upshifting and downshifting. Lunging sometimes when take off and going around corners. I have had it lunge in the middle of an intersection and it misses gears. When it takes off, sometimes goes from 1-3-5. In that sequence.

The down shift problems is in the programming. My car shows the gear it is in while going. I will be at about 30 mph and be in 6-8th gear. It's never consistent. So when you come up to stop, you're still in gear 6 or 7. That will shift hard going down 6 gears in a matter of seconds. I am a gearhead and this is NOT NORMAL. The lunging in the gearbox is from all ALUMINUM parts. Forks need to be steel. NOT aluminum.

This transmission is a piece of crap. Car has been back 3 times and talked to all from my dealer. Looking to try and talk to someone higher in the chain of command. Dealer isn't helping at all. Been a FORD man for 35 years. FORD doesn't care and will not care until someone gets hurt. My car has had issues in an intersection probably a half dozen times. Scary to drive!
