I had this 1997 Ford Ranger XLT 4X4 (off road pkg) flame red paint, 4.0 V-6, automatic, perfect inside and out. i turned on the heat one day, and heard a clunk. The heat came on full blast, and could not ajust it. Took it to the dealer. Dealer said this was a known problem with the mix flapper in the dash, that mixed the hot and cold air. Estimated cost of repair was over $400.00. Never had it fixed. Shame on Ford for knowing about this problem, and not doing something about it.

You cannot regulate heat at all. It blows pure hot air and that's all have read that about a lot of 1997 & 1998 Fords. Seems Ford has a problem with this. Never heard of it before till now and have seen and heard a lot of people complain. The garage will fix it for around 700 dollars. Come on ford if your truck is so good let's do something to help us out this is ridiculous.
