The air filter cover is located directly underneath the high side A/C pressure hose. It is VERY difficult to remove the cover to inspect the air filter and even harder to put the cover back on.

Best suggestion: Put a K & N type air filter in. You don't need to check/clean it but once every 1.5 to 2 years. And it can give better MPG on the highway as well. Does very little for city driving.

At least you can reduce maintenance hassles.
