Jeep knows there's an ongoing problem with the PTU's failing in the Cherokee's, and for no apparent reason, other than shoddy manufacturing and/or lack of quality control. They have acknowledged it for a select range of VIN's, even though it affects ALL VIN's! If you go into ANY KL Cherokee group on Facebook and ask about PTU failure, you'll hear from HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS of owners who have all had their PTU fail at least once - costing them $2300+ to fix! When you contact Jeep - they tell you your VIN isn't covered and you'll have to pay out of pocket! What they NEED to do, before this becomes a class-action lawsuit, is get ahead of the problem and issue a RECALL for ALL KL PTU's and provide a free replacement to EVERY KL owner!
