2014 Jeep Cherokee~50K miles: Bought brand new from dealership and exclusively dealer maintained...a year ago 2 things spontaneously started happening to my Jeep. 1-as I would slow down and come to a stop my car would shut off, stall out. 2-as I was driving my electronic throttle control light, check engine light, and electronic stability control light would start flashing and the Jeep would not run right. I would pull over, turn the car off, reset the engine light and then I would be able to drive until it happened again. Sometimes it would happen after 5 miles of driving, other times I would go over 100 miles without incident. I had approximately 25% remaining on my oil life cycle-last oil change less than 6months/5000 miles. I tested the battery and a few things before I brought it to the dealership. Dealer said my oil level was dangerously low and I need a fuel system cleaning. They did an oil change and fuel cleaning, asked me to come back after driving 1000 miles for an oil consumption test. They said the result of the test was within normal limits. A year later, again around 20% oil life remaining-less than 6 months and less than 5000 miles since last oil change I am getting the same symptoms-all three lights coming on, car stalled on separate occasion. Will be bringing back to dealer this week, however this car has received all oil changes by dealer within the proper time and I take good care of the car- this seems a bit dangerous and should not be happening. It affects my commute to work, child care, time, etc.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly decelerated and the "four wheel drive unavailable" message appeared. Also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to reedman toll Chrysler (300 baltimore pike, springfield, pa) and the transmission was replaced. Later, while driving, the vehicle suddenly shut off. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump was faulty. The fuel pump was replaced, but the failures continued. Later, the water pump was replaced and the transmission would not switch into the park position. The cause of the failures was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 25,000.

On some occasions when I get gas my vehicle will completely stop and turn off right before I drive out of the gas station. Once restart it takes a few times and then I am able to drive. Once on the road it chugs for miles. Once the gas sets it's back to normal again. The fuel pressure gage was already replaced a few years ago. No one knows what is wrong and it would cost a lot to find out the source so I just deal with it until I can sell this vehicle. This has happened since 2017 when the vehicle was not even three years old.

The vehicle has a consistent issue of shutting off while driving after refueling. Issue usually occurs within a mile of the gas station. The car will begin stuttering and lunging and will shut off stopped or even at highway speeds. The panel shows a transmission light and engine light and will not function again until after putting it in park, turning off the accessories and restarting the vehicle. The vehicle runs fine after restarting, and will not have the issue again until refueling. The vehicle shutting off on the highway is a very dangerous and nerve-racking experience.

After fueling the vehicle, if I come to a complete stop sometimes the vehicle will stall. All the warning lights on the dash flash then the car dies. I've taken it to a dealership multiple times. Sounds like it could be the carbon filter or sensor or something.

Filled tank with fuel. Drove about 1/4 mile and stopped at light to turn onto highway, car stalled and dash reads "shift to P then desired gear", picture attached, then drove about 6 miles. Had to stop and at light car stalled and dash read same as above..this happened when I stopped at work and when I was driving to dealer happened both times I needed to stop and same when I pulled under the service area at the dealer..dealer said there was an issue with fuel system..the problem is the vapor/liquid separator valve located at the top of the fuel tank. The valve is designed to prevent liquid fuel from entering the charcoal canister/emissions system. When the valve fails, liquid gas can enter the line and fill the charcoal canister. After refueling the PCM on the vehicle detects a change in fuel level. Then, when the engine meets certain temperature and driving criteria, the PCM issues a purge command to the charcoal canister to remove the stored gas vapors. It's at that point that all the liquid gas in the line gets sucked into the charcoal canister. The PCM expects to see gas vapors entering the intake manifold and it is prepared to adjust air/fuel mixtures to compensate. However, it is not prepared to see liquid gas coming into the intake. That's what causes the engine to stall. This seems to be a common problem, should be a recall in my opinion. I can either pay $1,700 for a new system... and is the new fuel pump redesigned? or just not fill up the tank completely. Which I have read will help the issue.

After fueling, the Jeep will start surging, the idling becomes erratic and then it will stall out with the parking brake light coming on, service transmission light comes on, the D on the ip flashes and when placing gear selector from D to P, the Jeep makes a loud clunk which can be felt thru the floor. Shifting into any other gear does the same. This has happened over 10 times since purchasing new. We never top off the fuel tank and take care to fill up if tank shows 1/4 full. It's been to the dealer, at least twice, to have the transmission "flashed" but the problem keeps recurring. Each time the dealer (greenville Chrysler, greenville, tx) tries to charge us a diagnostic fee which we adamantly reject after the first time because the problem is exactly the same. Just 4 days ago, my wife was turning left at a light from a stop, after fueling, and it stalled in the middle of the intersection. She was able to restart it and drive but she could hear the loud clunk when putting it in D. she immediately came home and parked it and I confirmed the cel, service transmission light, parking light, flashing D on the ip and I switched from P to D and R and it clunked each time. I unplugged the battery to see if it would clear any codes and "reset" and let it sit overnight and this morning it started up fine with no warning lights on the ip. We took it this afternoon to pick up our son from school and it did the same thing with all the warning lights, clunking when shifting gear and we limped it home. I've disconnected the battery and will reconnect in the morning and take it to the dealership. Consumer stated in short, after filling up with fuel, the Jeep stutters and/or shuts off. For me, this happened in parking lots or somewhere other than a public road. However, my wife has experienced this on the road on several occasions.the Jeep will run fine for about 2-3 months and then starts to act up again.

Car literally stops working while driving, locking steering and no power brakes to stop. Has happened twice, while turning both directions. Others online have had it happen while driving straight, and crashed as a result. Jeep dealer blames oil level, transmission, and software, but no fixes have helped. Currently installing new transmission due to horrible shifting. Dealer states oil level can be 1/4" low on the dipstick (within the safe zone) and it can make the car quit running while you are driving 70 mph down the highway! many others have experienced the same issues! this is a dangerous car that must be taken off the road immediately.

19V-447. We began having this issue last year where we had no idea what the cause of it was. Initially the vehicle would begin jerking while accelerating and continue even at high speeds. This was intermittent and whenever we took the vehicle in for service on this they could not replicate it happening. It began getting worse within a few months and one day last month when my wife was stopped at an intersection when the light turned green she accelerated and lost all power to the transmission causing the vehicle to become disabled in the middle of the intersection. We filed a claim and had our vehicle towed to the Jeep dealership.. the vehicle will suddenly lose all power to the gas and cause the vehicle transmission light to come on. The vehicle blinks that in order to get the Jeep to start up again it must be shifted into park and then it continues to blink the transmission warning. We've been lucky to not have been in an accident yet but this vehicle is unsafe to drive. We were told roughly a month ago when we brought it in for servicing at our local dealership it was flashed and fixed. After researching and finding there was no fix, we were clearly mislead by the repair shop. This happened again 3 days ago where it stopped in the middle of another intersection when my wife was accelerating from a stop and again was disabled in the middle of the intersection. If left for a period of time the Jeep will start with the transmission light on and drive for a short period of time before doing it again.

Takata recall fill car with gas it will shut off and loose all soeed control and the serbice parking break comes on windshield wipers go you loose power steering lights flash, also car wont go again after you slow down to incomplete stop, also looses acceleration as youre driving with no warning will say to put in park and when you do you eventually loose power steering and you have to try to restart multiple times transmission jumps and jolts when shifting gears at any random time. This all happens very randomly and gets worse any time you put gas in especially filled up all the way have taken to dealer multiple times and they say there is nothing wrong with transmission they cant get it to duplicate issue this has been happening since ive had the car 4 years now and the other issues were supposedly electrical caused by a water bottle under my seat but yet the bottle was removed and im still having problems

I have noticed in the past few weeks that my Jeep will stall and will not start back up again. I try and it wants to but doesn't. then about five minutes later it will start and all is good. I thought it may be the gas but I have gone through different tanks and different gas stations and it continues to do this. Usually first thing in the am. I have been stuck in the middle of the road as it will start to go but stalls. What is wrong woth this vehicle.?

Vehicle stalls while driving and idling after filling up. Dealer says it's because of overfilling the tank, even though I explained I was told not to do this the first time I had an issue and haven't since (over 1 year). Dealer says its the fuel pump and evap canister and will be $1,800 to replace. June marks 3 years that I've had this vehicle and this has happened 10+ times, and has had to towed to the dealership twice.

Every single time that I get gas, my car buckles up and then stalls and shuts off. This has been a problem for about 10 months now. This has become a high, Y dangerous situation in the fact that the car stalls and shuts off when it should be good to go after getting a brand new tank of gas. I have spent too much money trying to figure out the issue, when this seems to be a major problem to all Jeep owners. What is it going to take, someone getting killed because their car stalled for someone to step up and doing something about this?! I have been reading and once I realized that I wasn't alone and this was happening to majority of Jeep owners it has made me so angry that this hasn't been a recall. The car is in motion and it buckles really bad and then stalls and shuts off. This is absolutely ridiculous that no one has stepped up and done something about this when I know so many people have put in a compliant. This needs to be fixed. Purchased used November of 2017. Has a little over 55,000 miles on it. Have noticed that the transmission seems to take longer than it should to shift and sometimes doesn't shift up at all or will shift down or even to neutral sometimes while driving at higher speeds. Also will lose power and then sometimes use a lot of power when not needed, causing the car to jerk or accelerate out of nowhere. Happens very often and has been continually getting worse since I've purchased it. But severely noticed it on my last road trip about 6 weeks ago.

We have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle has been stalling after each gas fill up. The car has been doing this for 8-12 months, but last Friday after a fill up it not only stalled but jolted and the transmission service light came on as well as the D and R signs began to flash on the dash and gear shift. I have heard from a dealership that the only way to correct the problem is to not fill the tank up all the way (who wants to do that!! ) or replace the entire fuel tank. From my research, the problem is the vapor/liquid separator valve. This vehicle only has 42,000 miles and of course the warranty has expired. Jeep needs to recall this problem. It is dangerous and could easily stall in the middle of an intersection. Someone is going to get killed!!! VIN unavailable.

This car continues to turn off while I am driving! today it turned off on me on an intersection! the car jerked, started to shake & then many lights came on. The check engine light, the battery light, the brake light, many more (please see picture attached) I bought the car at carmax. Had the exact same issue in November of 2018, got the car serviced under my extended warranty. Now, 4 months later the same issue happened. In November, they informed me the issue was the car fuel injector & a bad sensor in the transmission. Today's issues is still unknown, as the car has to be sent off for evaluation. But today was a very scary situation for me! I would hate this to happen to anyone with children in the car!

While filling the fuel tank the pump at the station kept shutting off. I changed pumps and the problem persisted. I was not able to place more than 3 gallons of fuel in the car over 10 minutes. I changed gas stations and have continued to have the issue. The car cannot be filled. It has been to 3 dealers and is still not repaired. The fuel in the filler tube is backing up and not allowing gas to get smoothly into the tank. Currently they cannot fix the issue although it is a registered known issue and does not affect all cars of this make, model and year there are plenty of complaints and Jeep is not fixing the cars without considerable expense to most owners.

Jeep Cherokee takes in fuel and over-flows into the over-flow charcoal tank and causes the transmission to shutdown due to an overabundance of fuel. I do not "top off" the fuel tank at all. I wait for the fuel pump to stop on it's own and after I refuel the vehicle starts to sputter and jerk. The vehicle has trouble shifting into gear and shuts down the vehicle and forces to place the in park and shift into a different gear. This happens to the vehicle everytime I refuel. Invalid VIN
