CarComplaints.com Notes: There's no way around it, the Cherokee's transmission is junk. There's no other explanation for why a vehicle, usually with under 40,000 miles, would have so many complaints

My 2014 Jeep has been experiencing intermittent shut downs, the dash goes dead at random times for a few seconds and then comes back on the issue continues. This issue started in December 2021 during that time I was driving at night and the dash, exterior lights and interior lights started flickering. Now this issue occurs 90% of the time when I drive, sometimes when the dash goes off different warning lights come on, TCS, SRS, Power steering and if the vehicle is traveling below 5mph it sometimes dies completely. Battery was replaced 1 year ago. The middle screen on the dash gets super dim and it appears to still be on if you look closely at night but the dials are frozen at the current speed and rpm. My mechanic tested the battery connection and there is nothing loose that would cause this.

The transmission jerks when at a light it jerks forward. This is unsafe as I feel it could hit the car in front. I reported it to the dealer which I purchased and they say the transmission is gone. There is only 36898 miles on it. The dashboard lights shuts off while driving not allowing you to see the speed of the vechile or any other instruments.

I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee latiude...there seems to be a problem with having enough light to see while driving at night. I bought my Jeep new and noticed the problem early on...but not having 20/20 vision...I thought it was just me until talking with other Jeep owners. So I avoid driving at night as much as possible...as not to put myself or anyone in harm's way!!

I have had my Jeep for 2 weeks. When driving at night I cannot see 20-30 feet in front of me and there is not much difference between dim and bright. This is very dangerous so I replaced the bulbs with sylvania silverstar halogen zxe. The bulbs are brighter but did not correct the distance visibility. Too dangerous to drive after dark especially with on coming traffic.

Car stalled several times while moving when engine is cold this happened several times while turning and again when not turning, on city streets. 4 headlights blew within 7 days while both moving and while stationary. Hard shift between 2nd and 3rd and 3rd and 4th gears while moving on highway and city streets.

While stop at a light the Jeep stalled out with check engine light, parking gear light, and road hazard light came on. Then when I put it in park and back in gear it jerked badly as if the engine came out and bunny hop as it took off like some one learning to drive a standard. Some times while driving it roughly shifts into 2nd. And it stalled once on a major highway which is dangerous.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 65 mph in the rain, the windshield wiper motor failed and the exterior and interior lighting shut off. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road. Once the vehicle was restarted, the lights turned back on and the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to bemidji Chrysler center (located at 755 paul bunyan dr nw, bemidji, mn 56601, (218) 751-8006) where it was diagnosed, but a failure could not be found. In addition, while driving 35 mph, the steering wheel seized and the brake pedal failed to stop the vehicle when it was depressed. As a result, the contact crashed into a fence. There were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The vehicle was able to be driven from the scene and was not diagnosed for the brake and steering failures. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

In 2017, both headlights on my 2014 Grand Cherokee overland went out. When I took the car to dealership, they said they had never had the headlights burn out on a Jeep that age. They said it would be over $700 to replace the bulbs. I was not able to afford this at the time. Two days later, my Jeep stalled in traffic and the alternator started burning while driving to work; my car had to be towed to the closest auto mechanic where the alternator was replaced. I also had the headlamp bulbs replaced. I was reimbursed by Chrysler for the cost of the alternator following the recall, however, my headlights have once again stopped working. I would appreciate if this can be investigated to see if the headlamp malfunction is related to any of the other recalls.
