I heard its common in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Ill be driving down the road fine and then the car just shuts off with out any warning and wont start back up for at least an hour, but it dies about 2-5 minutes later! it dies in the middle of an intersection while stopped at a light or waiting to turn. It has died when turning a corner into traffic making me almost cause an accident many of times. I do not drive this vehicle any more do to the danger it may cause to myself and others on the road. Iv taken it in to be fixed an no one can find what's wrong with it! I know it has a problem and the more I hear about it so does everyone else who has ever owned this type of vehicle, so why cant anyone pen point it..and why hasn't it been taken care of..

My 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 4X4 keeps stalling all the time. Rough idle when started and check engine light comes on all the time. Also, alarm is defective and flashes the exterior lights and honks the horn anytime any of the doors are opened or closed and the power lock button is pushed to lock or unlock. The engine temperature gauge doesn't even show a reading and the factory infinity gold cd radio turns on but no sound. My Jeep has a warranty on it right now and these problems have been ongoing since 2/25/06. I've had my Jeep to the original dealer where I got it, which has ase certified techs, and also to two authorized Jeep dealerships with no resolution to any of these problems and to date have been charged over $450 between the three dealerships. I have sent now two E-mails to the Chrysler group customer assistance center and the first E-mail I received back brought up two recalls: #747 disc brake rotors #B02 floor shifter secondary system and the second E-mail I got back from Chrysler still had no information about the stalling and/or rough idle. This is entirely unacceptable as I have not been able to use the vehicle for quite some time now because of danger to me or others if it would stall while driving, the financial drain and the sheer unreliability. I would like a resolution to this as soon as possible.

Replaced fuel pump on 2/27/03 after I purchased the Jeep used on 2/26/03. Replaced fuel pump again on 3/37/03 (broke down in another state). Took Jeep in for transmission failure on 4/3/03. Sat in shop for 30 days while warranty company decided what to do with it. Replaced transmission. Jeep dies in traffic on 5/5/03. Called shop got runaround. Called warranty company and took to another shop. Told it was fuel pump again (warranty company didn't pay the last $550 to replace fuel pump) and also the gas tank is deteriorating, warranty company will not cover due to high fuel pump replacement. Also told it could be crank sensor in 4.0L engines. Not happy to pay $9000 for a vehicle that has only been driven 3 weeks out of 3 months. Still fighting with warranty company.
