Sudden grinding noise on app brakes on R rear wheel. Limited view by writer suggests massive corrosion of rotor and presented as such to dealer. Dealer denies cause claims separation of pad from mooring causing damage. Accepted as true, writer authorizes repair - asks for worn parts return. Check written for repair; vehicle pick up after hours. Returned rotors verify massive corrosion cause of stripping pad off. Dealer replaced with same corrosion prone mopar rotors. Invoice pre-paid $341.55. Vehicle largely inoperable over previous 10 months due to repeated failure of ABS. Front rotors replaced under recall. Absolute loss of faith in dealer competence. Will only further commun. With manufacturer.

At 27,700 miles I was told the rotors were warped and needed new front brakes. I have never owned a car that needed brakes that soon... ever! I was just told that at 45,704 miles, the rotors are again warped and I need new front brakes. Why? Chrysler has offered a new set of rotors, but no assurance they will last longer than the 18,000 miles the last set lasted. "off the record" and employee told me the brakes on the Grand Cherokee are not adequately cooled. I have 3 other vehicles with 80,000 + miles on them & only one has had replacement brakes at 82,000 miles. The seat back "jumps" back a cog or so on occasion. The dealer cant' even give me an estimate as it is very expensive and involves rebuilding the drivers seat! I think Chrysler should fix it as it was obviously defective in the first place. Never had a car do this either. Kinda hard to drive when laying on one's back!

Ongoing problem, when braking steering wheel vibrated. Dealer had turned both front rotors on two occasions, and replaced pads on one occasion. Currently, dealer informed consumer that both front rotors and pads needed to be replaced. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter.

I own 2 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both of which have premature front rotor and pad failure at 20,000 miles. Both the dealer and the manufacturer are not willing to tell me why these components are prematurely wearing out. Even though we live in the "salt belt" the dealer replaced the rotors on my green 98 Jeep but not on my black 98 Jeep. They claim that none of my Jeep fall under the recall due to the vinnumbers and that they are registered in va and not DC. Even though we commute into DC everyday into the recall area they are not willing to replace the rotors on the black Jeep. The warped rotors are also wearing out the pads. Some owner complaints off the web have stated that daimlerchrylser installed brake pads that were to hard. The heat buildup from the friction of the hard pads is what is warping the rotors. I don't know if that is true or not. We need help. Rotors and pads should last around 40,000 miles if not more. Could you please see if you can get daimler to recall all rotors for those of us who live in the Virginia suburbs of Washington? thanks.

When applying brakes, during normal braking pedal pulstated. This happened on any type of road surface. Jeep was taken to the dealership a couple of times for this problem. Rotors were resurfaced in June of 99. Pads have been replaced. Problem with the brakes continued. The rotors are very thin which cause warping.

The two front rotors have been replaced due to them being warped. They were replaced at 7500 miles approximately. Today, 12-28-98, the two rear rotors are being replaced due to them being warped. This seems to be an acceptable thing Chrysler, since they won't cover the rotors after 12000 miles or twelve months. The disc break system needs to be fixed if the rotors keep warping in my opinion. I do no towing or serious heavy city traveling. The car has been mainly used on interstate freeways.

problem #6

Repeated rotor failure. I have had three sets replaced in 17000 miles. Dealer acknowledges that there is a real problem, and that in some cases they are installing aftermarket rotors. This is a widespread problem. It results in violent shaking of steering wheel and pulsation of brakes.
