Grand Cherokee Larado 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Every time that I start the vehicle a message flashes saying that transmission is overheating, even if less than 20 F outside and the vehicle has been sitting for a couple of days.

I'm thinking that there is something in the software causing the error. As the message only really stayed on and was believable when I was towing a trailer uphill on the 15 and it was a warm day.

The other problem is that I have had the traction control and ABS shut off, and found a hint on how to reset. Turn the wheel full left then full right a couple of times. Then shut off, and then after I was in 2nd gear the next day the message was gone. I suspect that it was because I was braking hard due to being cutoff to avoid hitting another vehicle, and also going over a bump at the same time. Suspect that more than two wheels lost traction coming up to a left turn.

I bought a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee, used it for around a month then suddenly you would be driving in traffic it revs up like the cruise control has kicked in throwing you forward fast with no warning. The 1st time I managed to slow it down. Then the 2nd time I wasn't so lucky. It surged forward running into my brothers battered pick up. Luckily enough no one was hurt. I've been in touch with my local dealership and they fobbed me off with some bull that the vehicle wasn't used to my driving or some sh*t to that effect. I've never heard such stupid fob you off rubbish in my life. Jeep should face facts their Cherokees are total rubbish, one electrical fault after another. You need to be Donald Trump to keep it on the road. This is the 2nd and last Jeep I will ever buy or own. I wouldn't have another if it was given to me. Surely something can be done if enough of us get together and complain to Jeep. Rant over.

Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.0L -Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 102,775 miles

Had full service done last month at Chrysler dealer cost $275.00 . 4 weeks later tranny getting stuck in say second gear , but not all the time , just sometimes it does not work properly .cannot check fluid because there is no dip stick on these crd diesels. Went back to dealer asked if they checked tranny oil they said no ( apparently you have to ask for that more $$$ ) but they will plug in to diagnose for $109 . Should they not check transmission fluid level with service ? Anyway I will find out tomorrow how bad the bad news ! Will be ;

Update from Apr 7, 2015: Update from Chrysler input speed sensor & input shaft speed sensor need replaced $ 1,089 plus labor. Anyone have any idea what to do? I have not got that kind of money ,,,

Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,000 miles

transfer case won't engage, disengage

Bought this so-called Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from a Jeep Dealer in June 2013. Paid extra for their best extended warranty. Have reported transmission failure FIVE times to several different Jeep Dealers and Chrysler Corporate HQ, but never properly fixed on any occasion, but told it was fixed only to be stranded again in some remote place with no ability to get the car to move! Been left stranded HUNDREDS of miles from nowhere. Finally told dealer I must get out of the vehicle due to health and safety risks--enough is enough!

Was told my aprox 4 month old purchase at $28,000 plus purchase could be bought out by them for $17,950! 4 Months and a $10,000 hit for a problem THEY can't fix! Wow--Nice, huh?! Is this the way Chrysler-Jeep does business now? Have heard from others about the same chronic problem. Anybody else?? Let's do a Class Action Lawsuit!!!!
