i have a 2010 jeep grand Cherokee 5.7 Hemi. i purchased it with 76000 miles. i noticed that when i fill the tank all the way up and drive for about half mile, the engine will just die on you. i am able to simply turn it back on and its starts right up and doesn't happen again until i filled up the tank. i was reading on the forms that dodge magnums and other Chrysler cars has an issue with a "vapor lock issue" and the only fix is to replace the whole fuel tank or not to fill the tank up completely.this is not safe at all, when the engine shuts the power steering and the power brakes also die. HAs any one found a real solution to this?

We have been having issues with our 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Edition that we purchased new in Lawrenceville. GA. When you start the car it shuts right back off. It does that about every 3rd to 5th start. We can't remember exactly when that started but within the last year. I have told the dealer that when taking it in for maintenance but they said it would cost $95 just to hook it to the computer to see what was wrong and at that time it wasn't that big of a issue to pay for the cost of the computer and to rent a car for ever how long as this is the only car we own.

In February 2014 we did our 35000 mile tune-up replacing the 16 plugs and tune-up at a cost of $300. We didn't have this done at the dealership. In late July our issue started getting worse. Going over a speed bump in a parking lot caused the car to shut off. This seemed very strange to us as it had not shut off before like that. In August we were on a trip going down the freeway when all of a sudden the car just shuts off. When we returned home I took it to the dealership. They told me they would have to hook it up to the computer and I would have to leave it. I had to rent a car at the cost of $40 plus per day. They called late that afternoon to say that they thought it was the spark plugs that was put in our car in February. They had not found anything else on the computer yet but felt like that was the problem. So, I said okay even though I didn't believe that is what it was caused from but they said they had a memo stating not to use those plugs in that Jeep.

The next day I took the rental car back and picked up my Jeep for a cost of just under $400. The next time I got in it, it did the same thing just like it had been doing, cutting right back off when started. Now I have to carry it back to be hooked up again and they say it could take another 3 days to run the computer diagnostic. I have to rent a car again at my expense and pay whatever the cost will be when and if they find out what is wrong with it. In reading about the problem we are having it sounds as though it is a problem with the TIPM which for some strange reason is not on a recall list of all the other years of the Jeep Grand Cherokee's. If this is the TIPM we should not have to pay for this repair knowing there is a problem in all the other years, makes and models of Chrysler vehicles.

I have loved my Jeep until now but this kind of thing shouldn't be happening and I don't want to think of what can happen on the highway when it shuts off. I will be car shopping if this is not fixed next week when I take it in again and it won't be for a Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge anything.
