I was involved in a serious accident on 9/20/2017 while driving my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was driving slowly out of a fast food parking lot and approached the exit intending to turn right onto the road. I saw there was oncoming traffic, and applied my brakes to stop and wait for the traffic to pass. I'm positive that I had my foot on the brake, but instead of stopping, my car surged forward into the road and into the path of a semi truck. The brakes weren't working. I started to reach for the emergency brake, but I had already hit the semi- truck by then. The first impact happened on the front driver's side of my car, then the car spun around and the second impact hit the rear driver's side of my car, the car continued to spin around and stopped when it hit a utility pole next to the entrance/exit of the fast food restaurant. Fortunately no one was injured or killed. I am 100% certain that some kind of malfunction happened with my car. I know I had my foot on the brake. I've had several recalls on this Jeep for repairs and software updates, and I believe at least a couple of them were related to the transmission. After the accident, I searched the NHTSA website, and I found several other reports of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee surging forward when the brakes are applied. There are also many other complaints of this model Grand Cherokee having many problems with the transmission, power train, and brake systems. I have already submitted a complaint to Jeep about the accident.

I currently own a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and have had a significant number of issues with the vehicle with zero help from the manufacturer that include items regarding my lights shutting of during night driving, my engine shutting down 3 times while pulling onto a major highway as well as my brakes malfunctioning while driving on a major interstate. I had had other issues but as the manufacturer has been uncooperative and I am stuck with an unsafe vehicle with a child on the way I would like to make sure I file a complaint in as many places as I can before I simply look to get rid of this vehicle. All issues occured while the vehicle was in motion and all have occurred while on the highway during the first year of ownership but as the service center never documented my items properly I was stuck with a lemon as I put 50K miles on in the first year due to my commute to my employer from milford, nh to burlington, MA before moving back to MA where I purchased the vehicle. The most recent issue was my brake booster which leaks water into it and freezes during cold weather and my vehicle has been sitting around since Feb as the dealership will not cover it as they claim to have already replaced the recalled item so I am in the middle of a dispute over that now as well. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Multiple problems with the forward collision warning (fcw) and adaptive cruise control (acc) systems 1) system will issue false brake warnings (and apply brakes if enabled) on clear straight roads with no other cars or obstructions. 2) system will disable itself at random intervals disable itself for a period of time (10-20 minutes). Only notification is brief "fcw/acc system disabled" notification in gauge cluster - no audio warning that important safety system disabled itself. 3) when using acc, when vehicle resumes set speed after autonomous braking, vehicle will accelerate into back of next vehicle ahead - have to manually intervene and apply brakes to prevent collision. Note that this vehicle uses a Bosch lrr3 radar sensor system for the fcw and acc features. Vehicle has been into Jeep dealers for service for this issue five times, and even after opening star case with Jeep/Chrysler fca, still no fix for this serious safety issue.

The vehicle went in for 4 recalls that I was never notified of, other than a flier from autonation saying I have 4 open recalls. I contacted and schedule this immediately upon receipt. They were looking at the brake booster recall and found the master cylinder to be shot. I've driven lots of cars for over a million miles and never had a master cylinder go before. This is alarming that at 45K miles this is shot. This part must be defective. In addition, this appears to be a common occurence with 193 such complaints on carcomplaints.com. I've talked to Fiat Chrysler and they are refusing to assist with this. I am certain they are correct in identifying the issue as I have noticed some break deterioration recently. Just because there wasn't an accident installing faulty brake master cylinders on vehicles is a highly dangerous proposition.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving approximately 20 mph, the brakes failed when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake booster failed and the brake booster and brake fluid needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 14V154000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,800.

The vehicle rolled down the driveway when it was in park and the ignition was off. It did not slide, it rolled. I immediately drove it back up the driveway, put it in park, set the parking brake, and turned off the ignition. I excited the vehicle, and about 2 minutes later it did the same thing. Please note: The Jeep had already received the software update for the April 2016 recall involving the gear shifter/rollaways (see EA1600). I believe this is a different issue because the ignition was off when the rollaways occurred.

I filed case # 10854550 on 4/9/16 following an active braking system malfunction where my vehicle braked on its own with no vehicles or other obstacles in my path on 3/31/16. I filed case #10948159 following an incident on 1/9/17 where the collision warning system went off and the active breaking feature engaged, despite no risk of collision. Further, the active breaking feature was turned off in my vehicle settings. The dealership service department has reported to me that nothing is wrong with my vehicle, following an inspection. But yet again, on January 31, 2017, my collision warning system went off and the active breaking feature engaged, despite no risk of collision. The feature has remained disabled per my vehicle settings. In this instance I was driving in stop and go traffic with my cousin and my almost 19 month old son in the car. Out of nowhere, the systems listed above engaged. I really do not know what to do. I feel at risk, and worse, I feel I am endangering my child by driving in my car. Short of selling it and passing this risk on to someone else, I am at a loss in terms of what can be done.

I filed case # 10854550 on 4/9/16 following an active braking system malfunction where my vehicle braked on its own with no vehicles or other obstacles in my path on 3/31/16. Following this incident, I went to the Jeep dealership and spoke with a service advisor who checked for error codes (there were none) and explained that this model and year of Jeep had an issue with the active braking feature, stating that keeping the camera clean can help, and he proceeded to clean my camera. But because this was a known issue, I did not leave my vehicle for further inspection. At the time of this incident, my not yet nine month old son was in the car with me, so to avoid any safety concerns surrounding this braking feature, I turned the active braking setting off in my car to disable the feature. The feature has remained off since that time. However on 1/9/17 I was stopped in traffic at a red signal. The light changed to green so I proceeded to move forward. The vehicle in front of me hesitated in moving forward, so I took my foot off the gas. Before I had the chance to use the brake, the collision warning system went off and the active breaking feature engaged. I was shocked, to say the least. I immediately pulled over and checked my vehicle settings. The feature was supposedly still turned off. At this point I was extremely worried for the safety of my now 1.5 year old son who was once again with me, so I took my vehicle to the Jeep dealership for inspection. The dealership was unable to recreate the issue, and therefore nothing could be done to address it. I had previously come to terms with the fact that I would not be able to use one of the very useful safety features of my vehicle due to its known malfunction, however now I am at a loss as I am clearly unable to disable the feature and have any confidence in knowing that it will not engage anyway.

Adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance did not work properly, and resulted in a collision. I was driving on a highway, relying on the adaptive cruise control and the automatic braking, a feature of collision avoidance. There was a slow down in traffic, and although the system slowed down and applied brake, it did so too late to stop car. As I got too close, I applied steady pressure on the brake, but I still hit the car in front of me, who then hit the car in front of them. No significant damage to either of the other cars, and mine has minor cosmetic damage, and the adaptive cruise control is now not working properly. Could have been significantly worse. Makes me really question the potential for self-driving cars.

I was traveling 35mph on the on ramp to a major highway when the automatic braking system turned itself on. There was no obstruction in front of me and the system was turned off. The car started beeping and the car skidded to a complete stop in the middle of the on ramp on it's own, there was no way I could control the vehicle. The incident almost resulted in a collision. This is the second time this has happened.

Twice now since I purchased this vehicle (in April of this year) I have experienced incidents of what appear to be random proximity collision alerts (indicated by brake!! on the console) followed by a sudden automatic braking, for which I discerned no pending threats in the line of travel. This action resulted in an unexpected and very unnerving sudden drop in vehicle speed in traffic; in the latter case I was almost rear-ended as a result of the extremely harsh braking action

I have a 2014 overland Jeep. It has 15000 miles on it. It's 2 yrs old. I paid $50,000 for it. I purchased the high end life time warranty. The rear brakes are totally not working and the front are very soft. I have taken it to a dealer and he checked the unit out at first he said the power booster was bad then after talking to Jeep they changed their story. He claims the rotors and pads are shot! I am pretty good at working on cars and trucks. I know for a fact the rotors and pads are not gone! I have had a few garages look at it and they said the same. Something is stopping the brake pressure on the rear brakes and only working partially on the front. I ask about recall P14 and N58. They said nothing! that is the loss of pressure from master cylinder from moisture. At present time I am afraid to drive the unit because I have already missed 2 stop lights because of poor braking ability I was only doing 50 on a 4 lane divided highway and could not bring it to a full stop before the light. This needs to be checked out

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee auto brakes for no reason, it sensed a stopped vehicle in the left turning lane and slammed on the brakes twice, I was in the left lane going 35 miles per hour; this has happened in the past also. I did report this to the manufacturer about six months ago via email, I saved the emails and their response. I could have been rear ended by a vehicle behind me because of this problem, literally once it starts I have no control over what the vehicle does, there is no way to stop the Jeep from braking. I shudder to think if it happened on a freeway. I was traveling on a straight road going 35 miles per hour in the left lane. On the evening of 8/22/2016 I was driving in the dark and my automatic high beams malfunctioned several times. They used to work perfectly now they stay on and blind oncoming drivers and the drivers ahead of me, they also fail to come one when I am in the dark and there are no other cars; both incidents of high beam malfunction happened on a country road and on the freeway last night. This problem started immediately after I had the electronic shifter updated at the dealer and some other software updates that were due but I don't know what they did, I just know they were software related and part of a recall. Said vehicle is going back to the dealer for several hours of work on the software for both the high beams an the braking system on Thursday, August 25, 2016.
