Large oil leak, could have gone on fire or seized the engine. Turns out the oil filter housing assemble was cracked which seems quite common in this make, mode and year.

Emergency Light stating "Service Electronic Throttle Control " that caused Engine Light to come on. These Electronic warnings cause vehicle to go limp and unable to drive or move causing severe danger on the road when vehicle just shuts down. It is a software issue and requires software flush and update, this issue is so common, dealership knew what i was going to say before I even said it. Recall needed to prevent a wreck and fix before issue shuts down vehicle, and should be recalled to prevent owner's financial repair for a software glitch needing updated by car maker.

The vehicle reported a low battery followed by numerous other warnings in sequence and then within a few seconds stalled and would not restart. Upon taking the vehicle to the garage, the alternator (and consequently battery) needed to be replaced. Reading other Jeep Grand Cherokee recalls, to me the indecent sounds exactly like the NHTSA Campaign ID: 14V634000 - where ''the alternator fails and the vehicle may stall'. (Manufacturer Campaign Number: T36)

According to the recall notice I received in the mail, the EGR cooler needs to be replaced. I scheduled an appointment and took the vehicle in. Upon arrival I was told that, yes there is a repair solution but that the parts are not available. But that they would place an order and notify me when it arrives. It has been several months and still no repair. *Note* I am having to add engine coolant on a regular basis.

The EGR cooler was not properly installed by the manufacturer which has caused several failures to the vehicles engine components (such as oil cooler, engine coolant system, and the EGR itself). Additionally, the EGR cooler has an active safety recall due to risk of engine explosion and vehicle fire. The parts and remedy for this recall have been available since November. This repair is covered under BOTH the active recall as well as an extended emissions warranty that was required by a federal judge in the settlement agreement for the emissions scandal which FCA settled with the federal courts to provide remedies to its customers. Thus far, FCA has not honored the terms of this federally required extended emissions warranty on two separate occasions. I have contacted three separate dealers and FCA on two occasions. FCA has refused to assist in the EGR repairs and the dealers have refused to perform the repairs. I-€™ve not been able to get any assistance from FCA, or the dealers. My EGR cooler is a safety risk and this should be addressed immediately. I have been working to get this resolved with Jeep since March 12th. I need the law to be enforced.

The glow plugs are -€œstuck-€ and have broken by the service department when trying to remove due to the carbon build up in the cylinder head. The dealerships states because this car is a diesel it needs to be driven and gotten to temperature. I commute a short drive to work. This is a safety issue as I could be stranded. The service manager says he will have my car for over 6 weeks!!!

Dear NHTSA: I was very disappointed when my engine developed an oil leak and the cause was due to a known mfg's defect in the plastic oil filter adapter & cooler P/N 68105583-af. The dealer (lansdale Chrysler Jeep, montgomeryville, pa) stated that this part should never fail, it's a known problem with the plastic housing developing a crack, and many thousands of these parts are on backorder because Jeep has changed suppliers. It doesn't help that the part is made of plastic and it's located under the intake manifold resulting in a bill for $977 to replace it. I was lucky as they had a replacement in stock. I've contacted Jeep seeking reimbursement. From a safety perspective, engine damage could result from a loss of oil and a risk of fire if the leaking oil contacts a hot surface. My vehicle has 86,325 miles and is no longer under warranty. Jeep should have a replacement campaign or recall due to the extreme number of failures. I hope you can help with getting Jeep to take ownership of this issue.

Left head cyclinder in engine cracked with coolant leaking to engine. 2011-2013 were extended on warranty for this but not the 2014 yet. To fix the 1 issue apparently requires replacing several other parts resulting in a astronomical bill. When got back from getting checked out the engine now makes a ticking sound. Also gear shift issues where the car will say in desired gear and won't go into park and stall out. The second was a recall but my VIN was not included. Gear shift issue happens at random and has left me in the middle of the street.

Called fca and they opened case #79173434 for me and have an appointment tomorrow at a nearby dealership for inspection of suspected oil leaking from the oil cooler/filter housing area and leaking down underneath and all over my transmission as well as my onto my driveway...will keep you posted on outcome since my 5 year warranty has expired but I'm still below the.100,000 miles-hopefully the "goodwill policy" is applicable or this issue gets more attention and turns into a recall for its potential to cause injury or even death if the oil catches fire. I cannot believe that there are more than 300 complaints involving this concern and there has not been more considerable action taken by fca us llc. At this time there are so many open issues with this defected part that I am unable to get this part cause there are 5800 people in line before me waiting for this part. I am unsure where to start to have this recalled but I would like to move in the direction of having that done. Please help! I need to have this done? The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle shut-off without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where he was informed that they could not service the vehicle. The contact then towed the vehicle to salt lake valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (2309 state St, salt lake city, ut 84115) where the contact was informed that the engine had seized due to no coolant. The contact was also informed that the vehicle needed a new engine due to the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 20V699000 (engine and engine cooling) which he linked to the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and a fca representative was to inspect the vehicle. The contact was informed that the failure was not related to the recall. The manufacturer was sent an email informing them of the failure experienced. The contact was informed that the case had been closed. The manufacturer re-opened the case to determine collateral damage. The manufacturer called back and the case was closed once again. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was 121,929.

Nothing has happened yet but there is a recall out (W79) to replace the egr cooler as an engine fire could occur. Was notified of this recall nearly 4 months ago and yet Jeep says there are still no parts available to do it. Can you get on their case to get this done?
