Last night after backing out of the parking space and put it in forward gear, my car suddenly made a loud grinding noise and the left front end dropped, causing my left front tire to fall off the arm. Passing people who offered to help were mechanics told me it was the ball joint. This happened to me on the right front tire in 2008 and it was covered under a recall by Jeep. According to Jeep this morning, both the left ball joints were repaired under the recall in 2008 and it would not be covered again. I have no idea how much this is going to cost me but it should not have happened again if new and proper parts were used by Jeep under the recall for this known problem with this vehicle.
