I had left my convertible roof cracked open as it was hot when I went to the grocery store. Approximately 6-8 inches open. I began driving home and was travelling at 45 mph when I heard the roof flip open and was flapping in the air. I quickly reduced my speed and was able to reach up and grab the roof to pull it back down. I held the roof down by hand for the remainder of the drive home until I could inspect the equipment. Upon closer inspection, the track slider on the passenger side has broken and does not respond to the motor when opening or closing the skyslider convertible roof. Also both pins holding in the roof to the track sliders had popped out of their mounting brackets. Had I been driving faster than 45 mph I'm sure there would have been more damage as I have read similar complaints here stating the same problem. This is a major safety issue and an extremely expensive repair, between $2,500 and $3,500. What if the roof were to fly off completely and harm my child in the backseat, or another person driving near me on the road at the same time?

Was informed by my dealership that the crossmember that goes between the frame and holds the engine and transmission in place was rusted out and needed replacing. Was also informed that there was a recall for the part on 2007 Jeep patriots, but not on 2008 and I'd have to pay for the repair. Was told not to drive the vehicle until repaired as it was a serious safety issue!!. what choice did I have? I paid... through the nose for something that would have been covered had I bought a 2007 model. I was given this website to make a complaint. Additionally, have had issues with the door locks not working (pop up on their own while driving or parked) and automatic windows not always working (had to have have some "cylinder" for the electronics in the driver's side door replaced.) the "check engine" light still shows 'on' because a part that's on "backorder" in the back by where the gas is filled is rusted and needs replacing.

I purchased my Jeep from a private owner back in 10/2013. I thought I wrote a complaint out but I can not find it here. I have a 2008 Jeep Liberty with a roll back top. While driving with my grandson the top blew back and broke the clip broke when it flew back.. to fix, it will cost $2,000 to 2,500 dollars. It was out of warranty and Chrysler would not help me in any way I called Chrysler direct and a local dealer. I did not think it was the right thing to do being that I do not believe a roof she be able to blow off your vehicle. I could have been on a highway driving 50 or 60 miles per hour and that roof could have blown totally off my Jeep and really caused a problem. Extremely dangerous.as far as look at it this it is a huge defect.. I have driven many convertible cars and never had the roof blow back. Plus the noise factor is just awful. You cannot even hear someone speak with the top closed. The wind is just awful there design on this roof is dangerous and just plain awful!!

Two claims filed per this complaint. 1) sky slider leak; failure - overhaul/replacement required due to track/cable failure. Was leaking into vehicle, as well as leaking into dome light. Inspected per Jeep authorized dealer, confirmed sky slider no longer properly sealing and has failed, requiring total system overhaul and replacement. Referencing various NHTSA documented claims, it already a known issue and in need of resolution.. I was responsible for paying all costs associated with repair, which was over $4000 total. Additionally, the vehicle has suffered a substantial drop in overall resale value due to vehicles reputation for having costly defects and overlooked for recall and warranty. Dealer performed repair at my expense, but I am currently requesting that this claim is properly reviewed for a proper, more cost-effective solution to defective unit. 2) vehicle suffers from temporary rough idle and significant drops in RPM's, nearly stalling itself out. Also begins suffering from intermittent loss of vehicle and device related functions such as loss of horn function, intermittent or partial lights function or window operation. On 2 different occasions while operating under the erratic conditions, the rear window hatch unlocked itself as though the button was hit on mfr. Key fob. These issue occurs randomly and typically last no more than 5 minutes before normal operation returns. Due to lack of information on the cause of this issue, what components are effected and what the specific defect is capable of performing, it is something needing to be looked into for proper resolution.

The vehicle's lights, horn, wipers, radio will start flashing inexplicably. When turning off the motor it continues. 2-3 times the motor cut out too. This happens about 8-10 times a year.

Replaced driver side door key lock, had to remove inner door pnl, (disconnected battery), after job was complete and started for first time, noticed that the (digital) dashboard odometer instead of showing mileage indicated the word "error". investigated on internet and discovered many other people are having same "error" message appear on odometer after disconnecting battery.

Recently I received the safety recall N10 / NHTSA 13V-121 for my Jeep Liberty 2008. In June 20, I made contact with the flagship service department, in bayamon puerto rico at 787-620-5877. Some female verified my vehicle information and once confirmed made an appointment for next day ( June 21 ). at date of June 21, 9:30am once in the service department, mr [xxx] told me that was a mistake, a error, and said "your vehicle hasn't problems or recalls." My doubt with at some observations: Their question: "where did you buy the vehicle". ( I bought the vehicle at rocky motors, a small dealer) and the playview of a long row of Jeep Wrangler to be received for repairs by recalls. I felt displaced, and have my doubts about the information received. Please confirm and take notice, with this establishment, to be loyal to the safety related. At this date, I took the time, I have chance to get a vehicle to use during the vehicle recall repairs. Later in August, is late, there will be no chance, I work at 20 miles from home. If my vehicle need it, I need to repair now, or the service department should provide transportation. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I have the slider sunroof and it flew backwards while going to work in September, 5 months after I had it. Took it to 3 car dealerships (one charged me $79 to look at it) to be told it had to be replaced and would be $2000. I requested help from Chrysler, the caseworker said she could help me and then I was denied. The slider sunroof is a hazard. I tried multiple things to have it repaired but there was no repair only to replace the whole thing. I had it strapped down, plastic and taped until I could get it fixed as with no top some water damage occurred and for a newer vehicle it looked terrible. While that worked for awhile the top again flew off totally just a few weeks ago. I turned it in to my insurance company as I did nothing to the top for it to malfunction as it did. I am getting it repaired now with so far just paying my deductible but am very worried it may happen again. It was a poor thought out idea as the top is just canvas with a few very small, thin metal rods that snapped apart when it flew backwards. I believe Chrysler should recall all the slider sunroofs and implement another idea for these. Also after seeing what they are made of and how these sunroofs are put together I don't believe they would protect very well if you did happen to flip the vehicle.

Thanks for this opportunity;; experienced exactly the identical rainwater flooding problem, from the right hinge above the hatchback of my 2008 Liberty, first saturating the cargo area, then moving forward saturating the front cabin floor! dealer wont fix!! ! removed seats and carpet, threw away padding, , replaced padding cleaned carpet, removing back hatch, and putting gaskets under hinges! good thing im handy and ex-navy!! please take all kuddos away from Jeep Inc!! P.S. someone tried to silicone around that right cargo hatch hinge then use touch-up paint on it;; I think it was the dealer; but they deny it!! but the Jeep was a lease before I bought it!! so no one else was supposed to touch the car; right? I would not have known, , if I hadn't read another post describing the very same problem!! I owe them!! thanks!!
