Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

There is a power train recall on my Jeep. The dealership cant get the part in. We got the notice in the summer. How long do they have to fix this, and what steps can I take now" my car is in the shop now for another problem with the electrical system that there is a service bulletin for. I asked the service person what would happen if the part in question broke before it was available and she told me that Chrysler told the dealerships to "put a bandaid on it"?" my child drives this Jeep!

In early January, I contacted my local Chrysler dealer to inquire about the recall. At that time, I was informed that only 2 replacement parts per months were being shipped to the dealership to support the recall notice. When I checked back on January 27, I was told that I am 28th on the list, meaning I will be waiting another 14 weeks for my part to be installed. As I understand the notice, the potential failure of the transmission may increase the risk of a crash. How many crashes will it take before a class action lawsuit is needed to gain visibility to this obvious lack of attention by Chrysler? I would expect the federal government is monitoring this situation, and will act on my behalf to quickly remedy this situation.

Safety recall N28 / NHTSA 13V-234 in October of 2013, I was mailed the above recall notice from Chrysler. I was told in the mailing to contact the local dealership to schedule the repair. I did this and was told the parts had to be ordered and would be a couple of weeks. By December 2013, no response from the dealership. In contacting the dealership at that time, they had no record of my call and my parts had not been ordered. They said they would put the parts on order again for me and that the parts would be available mid-January since Chrysler is releasing a limited amount of the recalled parts each week. As of February 4th, 2014, I had not heard back from the dealership. I called them the morning of the 4th and got this reply. They said my parts are still on order and that Chrysler is still only releasing a limited amount of the replacement parts. It does not make any sense to me if a recall is issued and the manufacturer says there are no parts available. This is frustrating and I feel like I am getting the "run-around". I would appreciate if the NHTSA could follow up on this and find out what is going on.

No incident on the road as occurred. I received a recall notice stating there is a defect related to the transmission oil cooler tube which may increase the risk of crash. I have contacted the dealer (quirk) where I purchased my Jeep (brand new) on two occasions. Both times the dealer stated that there is a long wait for the part to be ordered or made and would not take action to help provide a solution to this issue. Dealer has stated that Chrysler only makes one part every two weeks. I am not interested in waiting for a crash to happen but rather have my vehicle repaired safely. Is there any measure vehicle owners such as myself can take to fix our vehicles in a timely manner before safety incidents occur? thank you for your help.
