Started to hear what I thought was a belt squealing on Monday. Checked belts by hand and all were tight. Nothing looked out of place. On Thursday evening while driving the squealing got really bad and suddenly I heard a pop sound. I lost power steering and had to fight to get the car off the road. As I looked under the hood I discovered a pulley appeared to have snapped off. It was leaning forward onto the radiator fan cover. All the belts were now hanging loose and there was a little smoke coming from under the hood when I first got stopped. Several people that looked at it in the parking lot told me that the water pump had gone out.

Once it was at Kia I was informed it was the Idler pulley, which does not make since looking at the motor diagram. The pulley that broke was located in the middle near the top. Which looks more like water pump to me. (This same part (Idler pulley) was replaced on 8/1/12.) After replacing idler pulley and all 4 belts I was told car was ready to be picked up. I walk in door to get my car and I am told 5 mins before I got there that when the mechanic tested it that "things started flying off it" so it was not ready to be picked up.

On Saturday I called to check on my car and was told he figured the previous issue out, but car was not ready cause now they are hearing a noise in the timing area. So I am without a car til Monday. They failed to get authorization on Friday from my extended warranty company and did not bother to try and get one on Saturday. Instead they told me the office to Fidelity was closed. (Funny I called them and they were open.) I would not have known anything about my car on Saturday if I had not called them to ask what was going on.

I listed other complaints on other repeat issues with this car. I deeply regret ever buying it.

My wife calls me and tells me that her power steering,ac, etc. aren't working. I'm thinking belt issue only to find out that the crankshaft pulley is loose. I'm thinking what kind of vehicle does that happen on? I come to find out hundreds possibly thousands of people have had this same problem which is obviously a manufacturer defect that Kia has refused to address. I'm in the process of having it looked at after putting three new belts on the vehicle only to have two of them thrown off in a matter of seconds due to the wobble. Hopefully it's not trashed. I called Kia, they took my name ,told me to have it diagnosed and they would possibly get involved ...ya right (it's obvious from what I've read they do nothing). I'm considering filing a class action law suit after seeing so many people who have taken a huge financial hit considering the severity of this problem. Unbelievable. The design of the sprocket and the push pin that locates it is laughable not counting the fact the bolt shears off inside the crank which they put out a "bulletin" on for their technicians. Many people have had this repaired only to have the same thing happen several thousand miles later.
