Sorento EX 4cy

When searching for a new SUV, I was looking for something with good gas mileage as a top priority. The Kia Sorento had a window sticker stating MPG of 21/29. WOW, are those numbers way off. On the best days and good conditions I'm lucky to get within 4 MPG of the sticker numbers. I mainly drive in town and do not drive heavy footed, the ECO light is almost always on when driving and still poor gas mileage. Out on the highway I could have the wind at my back and next to no load and still can't get within 4 mpg of the sticker numbers.

I have contacted the dealer and got a BS answer that I had to let the car "break in" or wait until I get around the 10000 mile mark and should start to see improvements. Needless to say I will be looking for other options when my lease comes up. This vehicle had potential, but lousy gas mileage and poor sales tactics have turned me off of Kia.

Sorento

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

After I purchased this vehicle I noticed I wasn't getting the gas mileage that it claimed I should be getting. I had a Chevy Tahoe before and traded that in for the Kia Sorento for better gas and it's a total lie. I want my money back. False advertisement. I'm ready to get rid of it. This car SUCKS.......I wouldn't recommended this car to no one.

Sorento SX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,488 miles

This vehicle had a window sticker that claimed 22 to 27 mpg. Assumed 22 around town and up to 27 on the highway. Best it does is 22.4 running 90% highway 10% city! Expectations are everything.. I expected to be contacted with a reimbersement check per the current customer retention program KIA has going! My vehicle is not on there list!!!

Sorento EX 4.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 414 miles

I have not been getting good gas mileage since owning the sorento. I've mentioned it to the dealer on three occasions but they said that there wasn't anything that they could do. They said that since I had an idling problem then maybe that was causing the problem. They don't know what to do.I think that we were lied to when searching for a good vehicle with good gas mileage. That was the main reason for purchasing the sorento.

Sorento EX 2.4L Gdi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,000 miles

Under the newly revised EPA numbers, the Sorento is supposed to get 22MPG combined. We are getting about 15.7MPG currently. We drive it gingerly. We drive it so that the ECO mode light is on virtually always. No matter how we drive the car, we are never able to get near the rated fuel economy, even the newly revised EPA numbers.

I have read about how Kia representatives have told other customers that they are not driving their cars correctly. The EPA fuel economy numbers are not about the "best case" numbers that can be achieved. That is why the rules were changed in 2008. The EPA numbers are supposed to be representative of reasonable driving patterns. I could understand getting bad mileage if I drove with a lead foot, but I don't. I drive smooth and steady.
