A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

OUR 2014 MAZDA CX-9 POWER BRAKE BOOSTER GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS AND HAS NOW FAILED AT 75,269 MILES WHERE THE PEDAL WAS SPONGY, PEDAL TRAVEL LONG AND THERE WAS A HISSING NOISE (AIR LEAKAGE) FROM THE POWER BOOSTER, ALL RESULTING IN SEVERELY REDUCED BRAKE EFFECTIVENESS - VERY LITTLE. WE COULD NOT SAFELY DRIVE THE CAR. THIS IS THE SAME FAILURE AND SAFETY DEFECT THAT WAS THE SUBJECT OF NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION (NHTSA) ODI INVESTIGATION PE-14-005 (ODI CLOSED 2/10/2014) INVOLVING 2007-2013 MAZDA CX-9 VEHICLES IN WHICH THE ODI RESUME SAID "THE AGENCY WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR COMPLAINTS AND OTHER INFORMATION RELATING TO THE ALLEGED DEFECT AND TAKE FURTHER ACTION IN THE FUTURE IF WARRANTED."

IN THAT CASE, IN ORDER TO AVOID A RECALL, IN MARCH 2014 MAZDA AGREED WITH THE NHTSA/ODI TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR 7 YEARS OR 100,000 FOR THE 2007-2013 MAZDA CX-9 VEHICLES AND REPAIR THE CONDITION AND INITIATED SPECIAL SERVICE PROGRAM SSP93.

THIS NOW IS EXACTLY THAT SAME CONDITION BUT IN THE NEXT YEAR MODEL - A MODEL 2014 MAZDA CX-9 MANUFACTURED IN 2013 THAT OBVIOUSLY RECEIVED THE DEFECTIVE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER THAT WAS MANUFACTURED BEFORE THE BOOSTER SUPPLIER CORRECTED THE FAULTY BOOSTER MOLD IN FEBRUARY 2013.

ON 4-29-21 MAZDA SAID (MAZDA CUSTOMER SERVICE REFERENCE # 1-378914617) OUR VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE NHTSA/ODI AGREEMENT AND SSP93 ONLY APPLIES TO 2007-2013 VEHICLES WHERE OURS IS A 2014, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2013.

THIS IS NOT ONLY ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE SAME PROBLEM NOW EXISTING IN 2014 MAZDA CX-9'S WITH A POWER BOOSTER MANUFACTURED BEFORE THE FEBRUARY 2013 FAULTY BOOSTER MOLD CORRECTION, IT IS UNCONSCIONABLE FOR MAZDA TO REFUSE THE REPAIR. WE JUST PAID $764.47 FOR A MAZDA DEALER TO RELACE THE BOOSTER AND NEED NHTSA TO RE-OPEN THE INVESTIGATION FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS. THANK YOU.

sudden loss of braking

2014 Mazda CX-9 was purchased with low mileage 10 k from Mazda Pampanga affiliate Carmix Pampanga. It has low mileage since it's a display unit and assigned to the executive of the company.

A month after usage I noticed a deteriorated rear pair stopper bump which I reported at Mazda and schedule for replacement. Since it's replaceable part it's ok for me and I schedule parts replacement worth 14 k Pesos plus undetermined labor.

Before the scheduled replacement while driving home for work I noticed soft braking that can not stop the car which forces me to double press the brake and I noticed that this is abnormal and can hit the car in front of me. I have to slow down until I arrive home. While parking on my garage I notice again soft braking that I almost hit my front garage room.

In view of the above, I schedule emergency service to Mazda pampanga which is 40 km from my home and since the Casa did not give any support I bring it to them.

For the whole day today, I wait for the diagnosis and mentioned to them the Brake problem I have experienced as well as the internet data on Mazda CX-9 problem. In the afternoon they advise me base on their ocular inspection My car has ABS problem and they need further diagnosis with a diagnostic fee of 7500 pesos. They advise me that they will inform me of further findings on the succeeding days.

Meanwhile, I have to leave the car for an undetermined number of days, possible reason for the brake problem and they did will advise me of future activities via phone.Remember I live 40 km way or another province, so it will difficult for me to immediately follow up or check my unit. Thank you

This problem happened suddenly while driving my car by my wife around 30 to 40 KM speed. the brake was not working and hard to push the brake pedal with hissing sound. We manage to stop the car without any injuries.
