Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

January 15 2016 I was driving my 2010 milian, went to make a left turn and my steering went out, then my dashboard lit up saying service power steering and advance trac system needs attention, then my passenger front tire blew. Ive seen where the 2011 milian has had a recall on this same issue that my 2010 milian is now having, I havent been able to drive my car since January and I still have 3 years of payments on a car I can't drive. So please send out a recall notice for the 2010 milian so I can start driving my car again.

"service power steering now" "service advance trac" lights appeared while driving and nothing seemed to be wrong at that time and then turned back off. Turned car off and parked for over an hour. Started the car the lights flashed back on and the power steering went out. This is not covered under a recall even though the 2011 Mercury Milan is covered under the recall. Called Ford and they said the only way to even have this covered is to pay a fee for the car to be diagnosed under the recall and have it sent in to the special service support center. They may not cover the issue, even though all the other related vehicles have been recalled for this same issue. I am still paying on my car and should not have to fork over $2000 for this to be repaired when others don't have to pay a dime for the same exact thing.

"service power steering" appeared on dashboard while driving. I had noticed the car seemed to be pulling to the right but power steering was working. I then parked for awhile and when I restarted the car the warning stated "service power steering now" with also a warning stating "service advancedtrac". now when I tried to drive, the power steering was completely out. I was able to drive it home but it is not a condition to drive with on a regular basis. I looked on the internet and saw this model Milan 2010 was subject to recall for power steering failure: Ford recalls nearly 423,000 vehicles for power steering problem. Associated press "in October, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began investigating complaints of power-steering failures on three Ford Motor Co. Midsize car models. The probe covered 938,000 Ford Fusion and Lincoln mkz cars from the 2010 through 2012 model years, as well as the 2010 and 2011 Mercury Milan. According to a class-action lawsuit filed in June about the matter, the problem could affect more Ford models, including the compact Focus." but when I called Ford and gave my VIN they said my model wasn't covered. But again after a web search I saw numerous consumer complaints about this potentially dangerous problem on this 2010 Milan model: so if the very same problem occurred on my model that occurred on other models that were covered, I think this model year of the Milan should also be covered. I think it is notable in the la times article it said other models may be effected. So even though the 2010 Milan wasn't covered previously, common sense will prevail and it will be covered.

Electronic power steering failed. Vehicle became difficult to steer for my daughter driving the car. She was driving on local streets. The effort for steering was increased greatly and could have led to an accident. She managed to pull over safely. There is a current recall on the 2011 Mercury Milan #15V340000 that is for the same issue. Steering gear was replaced to resolve issue.

I was backing out of a parking spot and when I put it in drive, the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the dashboard stated " service advance trac". after pulling over and checking everything out. I was able to drive it without power steering to a family members house. After leaving the car there for a few days, I started it up and everything seemed fine. I am concerned driving this car given that it seems to be a common problem.

While attempting to make a turn in an intersection the power steering suddenly failed on the car. Vehicle was traveling at approximately 15mph at the time of the incident. Afterwards the "power steering failure" and "service advancetrac" lights were displayed. Incident nearly resulted in an accident. This is a serious safety issue. Upon investigation I have found that the same issue occurred on the 2011-2012 Mercury Milan with the same part as the problem (steering motor sensor) that resulted in a recall for those model/years. As it is the same part it should fall under this same recall, however it doesn't. this part is contained within the rack and pinion system requiring replacement of the entire system at a cost of $1800-$2000.

"power steering assist fault" would display on my lcd screen on my car. I would normally turn it off my vehicle and turn it back on and it will work fine. Now, the warning come out everytime I start my car leaving my unable to use it. I have read hundreds of complaints on different websites. I don't know what else we need to do to have Ford issue a recall for this.

As I was making a right turn at a rural intersection I lost power steering. I was going less than 20 mph, turning into a parking lot for my job. A warning light stated "service power steering system" and "service advanctrac". at the end of the day, the warning message changed to say "service power steering system now". it's going to the dealer tomorrow. There needs to be a recall on this problem.

The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. While driving at approximately 45 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn without warning. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure recurred on two other occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15V340000 (steering). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Went to take my car out of the parking space. Went to turn and the power steering failed! could not turn wheel left or right! at the same time this happened a warning sign popped on my dashboard saying something about power steering failure. Not impressed at all. 2010, 11 and 12 models are all having this same problem! only one they recognize at the moment having a problem is the 2011 because apparently more people need to get into a car accident or killed with the 2010 and 12 models before they recall them! I am 7 months pregnant and feel fortunate I was not on the interstate when this happened and in a parking lot! I hope the "investigation" their working on goes by quickly before anyone gets seriously hurt!

Was driving on freeway when the steering suddenly failed as I was changing lanes. Extremely hard to steer and almost crashed several times driving to the nearest Ford dealership. They diagnosed the issue as something related to a fault in the steering rack, and asked $6,000 to replace it, even though the car had less than 110,000 miles on it.
