So, I get in my car one night after work to head home and notice that my gear shifter no longer lights up when the interior lights are on (i.e., interior lights on the climate controls, steering wheel, etc.) for driving at night. Take the car to the dealer to get it replaced, no problem. They take the centre console apart and it took like 30 mins to complete.
After leaving the dealership in the morning, I go to drive that same night and notice that there are now even more lights not working all over the car. I left the dealership with a bigger problem than when I dropped the car off there as now the headlights, taillights, and almost all of the interior accessory lights don't work. The only one that did work is the little gas gauge screen and the speedometer. Everything else was black.
Turns out the Intelligent Electronic Power Distribution Module (IPDM) had failed and there was a short or some sort of fault in the wiring as there was no way to get the lights to turn on. Replacement of the module was the only option, which after parts and labour was a $1,200 CAD repair; thankfully had an extended warranty that included replacement of this particular module.
Overall, it was a pain in the ass as the car was not safe to drive, especially at night or in the winter conditions I was facing that day because I had no exterior lights.
Apparently, this was a big issue with the Titan and Frontier a few years back and Nissan knew about it. This is one instance where a Micra fell victim to this fault. Pay for the extended warranty, people!
