Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

We own a 2008 Nissan Rogue. Approximately two weeks ago the airbag light began flashing while driving and the passenger airbag sensor light will show that it is off even when an adult passenger is sitting in the seat. We took this to our local Nissan dealer in which case they informed us that it would cost $1800 to repair. Upon researching this online, I found out that this is a common problem and there was a recall associated with our make, model and year vehicle. It is NHTSA recall number 08V521000. The dealership we took the car to for repair said that our car wasn't included in this recall. I called Nissan directly and filed a case with them to see if I could get our car included in this recall since it is the exact issue described in the recall. They gave me case number 32943503. When the case officer with Nissan called me back they were unwilling to work with us on this issue stating that our VIN was not included in the recall and couldn't provide me with any information on the defective part that was recalled so that I could compare that with what is installed in my car. After looking at all of the complaints online for this exact issue, I think that this recall should be expanded to include more vehicles since the parts installed continue to be defective and this affects life safety of the passengers in these vehicles.

While driving approx. 40 mph the passenger seat light came on indicating seat air bags would not engage. This occurred while a 150 lb. Person was sitting in the passenger seat. A light red indicator light also came on on the dash and it was blinking. Both of these lights have continued every time we use the car whether someone is sitting in the passenger seat or not. After seeing there was a recall on the 2008 OCS from Nissan, I took the car to our local Nissan dealer and they said our VIN number was not included in the recall. Why not, how did they determine that. The same part was used on all the 2008 Rogues as well as many other Nissan of that year. Why is NHTSA not investigating this. There are hundreds, probably more, Nissan vehicles 2008-2009 that have this very expensive problem as well as very unsafe, life threatening issue. Nissans "voluntary" recall helped them escape a full recall. They have not honored their "voluntary" recall.

Supplemental air bag light is always flashing when vehicle is on. Dealer did diagnostic and said there's a problem with the passenger seat air bag sensor. The only remedy is to replace the passenger seat entirely. If the passenger seat is not replaced, the air bag may not deploy when it should.

Takata recall there is air bag icon flashing on the dash board in red. I took it to my local repair shop and it looks like this was a recall reported back in October 2008. I purchased this car in November, 2008 and I am the original owner. I called local Nissan dealer and they said this recall does not pop up based on my VIN and they will not do anything for this issue. My local repair man said in order to fix this, I have to change whole seat which could cost me about $2000. This is serious safety issue and local dealer does not want to take care this issue. I am sure any safety issue should be taken care of by nissanusa. If someone was driving and killed by the accident because the airbag did not pop up, what would you do then.

Just bought this car from the original owner, she stated that the dealership told her the flashing passenger airbag warning light on the dashboard was "no problem". despite 2 efforts on her part to have this repaired, it continues to flash. Worried that the sensor will not activate the airbag in the event of accident.

My airbag light started flashing and when I had a passenger riding in the front seat, the airbag sensor would never go to on. This is a huge safety issue being this means the airbag will not deploy- ever- because it does not ever sense someone sitting there. There was a recall of my exact make and model but of course not my VIN#. now, the state of Hawaii will not let me pass my safety inspection- because they are very well of the safety concern of the airbag not deploying. So I take it to the dealership who tells me I have to replace the seat cushion- to the tune of over $2000! I wrote to Nissan corporate who basically told me to shut up and stop complaining. This is a joke & I am certain we will just have to wait for someone to die before Nissan is actually held responsible. Now I have a vehicle that I can no longer drive since my state has deemed it unsafe- or my other option is to pay 1/3 of what the car is worth to fix a problem that is already known & there are 100S of complaints. I hope you guys move this along because I still have to make a car payment on a car I cannot drive, pay over $2000 to replace the whole seat, or pay it off and junk the car, since I cannot sell an unsafe vehicle that won't pass a safety inspection. None of these options are exactly great for me. This is completely unfair to consumers & seems more like a way for Nissan dealerships to increase profits. I hope you move quickly on this before innocent lives are taken by a known faulty airbag sensor. Not to mention, I only have 30 days to either pay the $2000 to fix the problem or to junk my car without having to pay penalties! I'm glad my own state can seem this completely unsafe but no recall has occurred" what if I fix it- will I be reimbursed if there finally is a recall" this has put me in such a terrible place! please help!

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was constantly flashing. The passenger side air bag light was also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire passenger seat sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. Updated 08/17/16 the consumer was quoted a price of $ 1800. Also, the tire pressure gauge never worked properly. When the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, for the problem, they would simply overfill the tires, until the flashing sensor would go out. Updated 08/22/16.

I have been requesting Nissan replace the seat cushion in my Rogue since they inspected it in 2015. They have refused. Now I see there is a recall, air bag occupant classification system (OCS), and I have never been notified and do not see my vehicle in the recall notifications!!!!! I needs my seat cushion replaced, or the air bag sensor will not activate the airbag in a collision. I have been the only owner of this vehicle.

I have tried several times to get the airbag, or airbag warning light, fixed. After owning the Rogue for a couple of years ( I bought it new), the airbag light began flashing in the car. When I took it to Nissan, they said it was a faulty sensor in the seat and it would take several hundred (I recall it being over $500, but it's so long ago I may be wrong)to fix it. I thought that too much, but when the takata recalls began, and people began to die, I became more concerned. I live in Hawaii, which is very hot and humid. The reality is either the sensor or the airbag has not worked properly from nearly the time I bought the car new. It's obviously faulty, and possibly dangerous. I feel the manufacturer should fix it.

Airbag warning light came on in car. I took the car to Nissan they told me it was the sensor in the passenger seat cushion. They reset it and told me the airbag would deploy if the passenger had their seatbelt on. I had a passenger in the car with their seatbelt on and the warning light that states #2 passenger airbag is deactivated. Nissan had told be before they reset the sensor that it would cost $1000 to replace the cushion with the sensor in it. I dont know if I believe the car or Nissan, will the airbag deploy or not. I dont have $1000 to replace cushion and when I contacted Nissan they told me sorry your car is no longer under warranty and there is no recall out for this airbag. I dont feel safe driving a passenger in my car not knowing if the airbag will deploy or not. I do not want anyone getting hurt or worse. Is there anything I can do?

The current airbag fault is the exact same as the late model Rogue seat cushion switch fault recall, but our model VIN is not included in the recall. We were stone walled at car pro's burien Nissan in Washington state. They were happy to offer a $2000 fix even though it happened after only 8K miles. We were appalled at their callous disregard for our safety especially since we bought it brand new. It was a little while before we were able to able to get it into the dealer due to heavy business travel at the time. Basically we have been forced to drive around a car without functioning airbags for years now while waiting for the recall to extend to our vehicle!

"takata recall" I bought a Nissan Rogue in 2008. Soon afterward the sensor went off to tells us the the passenger-side airbag was off. That light has stayed on ever since. About eight years ago, the airbag warning light began flashing. When I took it to Nissan, the technician said the sensor in the seat was faulty, and it would cost over $500 to fix. I thought that was too much, and I thought it should be covered by the dealer, but they would not fix it. It's been broken/flashing ever since. When the recall for takata airbags began, I recognized that my car was suffering from the common complaints about faulty airbags, and since people were dying I was concerned. I checked online and found that 2008 Rogues were part of the recall, so I again took my car to Nissan, but they said my particular car was not covered by the recall, though many 2008 Rogues were. I then called NHTSA's vehicle hotline, and the person recommend I call a corporate Nissan North american number (1-800-647-7261). I talked to a nice woman who said she would turn in my complaint and someone would get back to me the next day. A man called and was again told that my Rogue was not in the recall and that Nissan, therefore, would not cover this problem. I'm particularly worried as I live in Hawaii, which is very moist, and this seems to increase the risk of the airbag going off. Whether it's a takata aribag or not, this was clearly a faulty product, so I feel it should be fixed by the dealer.
