I've had several problems (4) to where my power steering will go out. I wouldn't be able to turn my steering wheel properly. I've had to get this fix multiple of times and decided to check and see if there was a recall on my vehicle for it. I don't see it so I decided to right a review about it. I hope this helps someone else not just me that fears for this to happen to them. Also, the driver (front) and brake/reverse lights has went out. I can't seem to get anyone that knows how to fix my brake/reverse lights. I've got my driver side fixed several time as well and it still tends to go out on me.

I bought this car brand new. It is a Pontiac G 6 GT convertible with an optional gtp high output engine and drivetrain. This is a top of the line vehicle with all options. Since new, the vehicle does not steer well. It lurches unexpectedly from side to side when going around turns or just straight ahead. It has been very well taken care of and only has 28,000 miles on it as of today. It is still in the 36,000 mile GM warranty period. There has been a snapping/popping noise in the steering wheel/column since new when you turn the steering wheel from side to side, sitting still or driving. The steering feels very unstable. Recently the vehicle started constantly pulling to the right. If I let off the steering wheel it will drive off the road. The steering wheel shakes back and forth and the steering feels loose and bumpy. The entire steering system needs to be replaced from the steering wheel to the wheels. This steering is electric. The parts are very expensive. The rack and pinion is also making noise and bumpy, needs replacement. The wheels appear out of alignment and the tires appear to be wearing on the outside edges. This is basically a brand new vehicle. It has been kept in a garage in Florida. No rust. Looks and drives new. Except for the electric steering system. This is a known problem with these vehicles. Internet search and dealer phone call confirmed that. GM has several recalls and extended warranties for this, but my car does not qualify. The steering system is maintenance free. There is nothing the customer can do. The steering column sensor ring is defective also. The upper steering column needs to be replaced also. This could cost well over a $1500 just for parts. This vehicle is unsafe to drive. It steers it self. The traction control seems defective and unreliable also.

While driving or stationary as I turn the wheel either way I here a clacking noise. I thought it was my C.V. axles but my joints are still sealed. So I began to think it was my steering column because after a certain amount of turning it for really really hard to turn then a load clack then it would pass the stress point turn easier but still make the clacking noise when turning it back. That would happen in both directions.

My Pontiac G6 has been nothing but trouble since I got it. There is a violent shake in the steering wheel and Pontiac does have open recalls for the issue I am having for inadequate support of the U-joints and steering shaft but my car was not manufactured in the state the recall was issued. I also periodically lose power steering while driving which is also another recall but again Pontiac says my car isn't affected by the recall. I am scared to drive my car we have replaced pretty much the whole suspension and bought new tires still have the problem. When it does go out completely and it causes me to have a major crash I pray to god my kids are not in the car and that I don't die or hurt someone else in the process of trying to get the car stopped. I do a lot of driving for my job and the shake just gets worse and worse Pontiac said they could set me up an appointment to have it fixed which I would have to pay for but I shouldn't have to. They should be responsible for fixing this issue just because my car was made in a different state doesn't mean that they used different parts or put it together a different way. The Pontiac G6 is a hunk of junk I'll never buy another Pontiac product in my life if this one doesn't kill me. I know I am not the only one who has this problem as I have seen countless threads discussing the topic on G6performance.com. The shaking starts at about 40mph and the faster you go te worse it becomes. Please if anything at all can be done to help I can't afford to keep sinking money in to this car nor can I afford to get a new vehicle

I have attempted to speak to the dealer I purchased this car from and have been unsuccessful. I have an engine oil leak, gas leak, and I am not able to turn my wheel left or right as something is and has been going on with my powersteering. I have paid for repairs but have been pushed off and given the run around about all that I have said. My car is and has been unsafe to drive and now I do not know what to do as it has gotten terribly worse. I have been advised that all recalls were done (by the dealer), and other sources have advised me they could not have been done with the problems that I am been having and that I am currently having.

On whictia in fort worth, Texas. I have been dealing with GM since my car steering, shifting cables and other recalls occured since 2014. They have done nothing about it. I had noticed that the steering wheel would shake while in a stopped position at traffic lights and then there was a chime while driving at 70mph on the interstate and I noticed the radio readout indicated an alarm of power steering. It would reset if I turned key off and on at first, but now it will not allow the power steering to work at all. I called a toll free number that I had found online for Pontiac recalls and spoke to an operator. He took the last eight digits of my VIN and returned a short time later and said that there were no existing recalls for my vehicle. I have almost 194,000 miles on this vehicle now and purchased it when it had about 163,000 miles on it. The previous owner told me that they had responded to all recall notices associated with the car, but he couldn't remember if it was ever for power steering. If it was previously repaired, it did not last very long. I have read that there were recalls for all of the G6 years except for the 2007, but I also saw a youtube video from 2015 that said that GM had recalled the 2007 Chevy Malibu and Pontiac G6 so I do not know what is accurate.
