My car started making a knocking sound, I took it in to jiffy lube in St. James, NY and they told me there was almost no oil in the pan. They added 3 quarts and told me to take it to Toyota in Smithtown. I did this and toyota diagnosed the problem that the engine needed to be taken apart and repaired, it would cost 3000 dollars, told me I should just get a new car. I had my oil changed at Toyota in January, 2016 ( I have receipt.) I was never told of any excessive oil consumption test when I was there. Can't believe I ran out of oil in 5000 miles. This is a problem that Toyota should rectify. Going to buy a new car as it isn't worth fixing.
