First, started off with having to replace engine due to a coolant leak between cylinder head and block , engine replaced with a similar type re-manufactured engine, had a second incident with same problem this time engine replaced with a 2008 (2AZ-FE) re-manufactured engine. I started noticing after driving within first 1000 miles that engine block was using more than usual amount of oil, almost 1qt per 1200 miles and told that was normal. Toyota set a standard 1qt per 1200 miles as acceptable amount because of complaints coming from this model engine block (2AZ-FE). Now being forced to go thru a second oil consumption test to verify the amount of oil being consumed!
This should not be the norm for an engine that has properly been rebuilt. I am looking for other Highlander owners that know their Highlander is not burning oil with same year and engine type to volunteer to do a similar oil consumption test as me and share results. It must be in same mileage range as my engine to prove that this is not normal if they are not having an oil use problem after 130,000 miles.
