CarComplaints.com Notes: You're going to burn through a lot of dinosaurs while chugging around town, and any rear passengers you may have to carry are going to feel real cramped, but at the end of the day this is a solid truck.

Rust holes in frame 4 years after Toyota dealership inspected and applied crc under body coating that was suppose to slow down the rusting but I believe made it worse. Contacted Toyota Corp and dealership, neither will do anything.

04 Tundra failed inspection due to excessive frame rust with holes. Toyota did a "limited service campaign" for which I never received a notice. I did receive the takata airbag recall notice. Called Toyota. They said they are not responsible for what happens with the mail. Nothing they can do for me. Vehicle is in great shape other than the rusted frame.

Truck frame is rusting from the inside out. This is the same issue as the 2000 tru 2003 model year. Toyota says it is not covered. There was a spray apply program but it ended in 2015. I bought my used truck in 2016 and I do not believe it was ever sprayed.

Rusted frame' I received a letter for recall from Toyota on the rusted frame. So I went to my longtime mechanic and he informed me it was bad, he then began to hit parts of the frame with a small hammer and punched a hole through it and than stoped any more hammering. When I checked my recall VIN# it does not show up, even though I received letters for it.

My Tundra was part of the frame rust recall and passed their rust penetration test and was rustproofed by the dealer, Toyota of grand rapids, June 8, 2015. The rustproofing was done very poorly and rust was still forming on the frame. I just had the Tundra inspected by my mechanic for recommended repairs to keep it on the road and he found two large rust holes, pictures attached, on the frame, one on driver side and one on passenger side behind the front wheels. He said that in a hard braking situation the frame could crack causing loss of control and steering. I've tried contacting Toyota and they said the dealer has to be contacted and this has been done twice with no results. The recall is now closed and I should have had a new frame installed the first time. The Tundra has 129,000 miles on it and we use it for 5th wheel towing, not anymore. I need your help in resolving this problem. You have 128 complaints for structural issues on this vehicle, all with mostly the same issue rust through on the frame.

The local Toyota dealership has confirmed the frame on my 2004 Toyota Tundra has excessive rust and has holes in it. They told me its unsafe to drive as the frame could crumble in a severe accident, and stated the frame would qualify for a full frame replacement if Toyota would recall it. I called Toyota corporate, and they told me they aren't going to stand behind it and won't do anything about it even though it's obviously a faulty component. This is quite frustrating as the body is in excellent condition with no rust, the motor has only 91,000 miles on it and runs like a GEM, no leaks or drips, and the rest of the under body has only minimal rust. How can the frame look like it's been sitting in the back field for the past 10 years and the rest of the truck look next to new, and for Toyota not consider the frame faulty?

Frame rusted, crack and holes are larger than 7/16 inch through right front inside behind motor mount. Vehicle is stationary, parked after Toyota employee verbally stated unsafe for road trip but could be used around town. 11/11/17 sparks Toyota frame recall, corrosion resistant compound applied by bristol Toyota on 11/2014, after bringing it in for recall of frame replacement. Contacted Toyota corporate 9/20/2017 and they stated they could do nothing for me, contact NHTSA for safety issues.

We were driving along at 50 mph when spare tire dropped out from under the truck in the middle of the road. The spare tire has never been used or disturbed in any way since the vehicle was manufactured. The tire started rolling at 30-40 mph could have hit a pedestrian or been an obstacle for following.

We had the takata airbag recall service performed on our Tundra on 12/19/14. Then, just a coupe weeks ago in June 2017, the airbag light came on when my husband was driving to work on the highway, and the light has not gone off since. We took it to a local auto shop to diagnose this past weekend, and they said it was an issue relating to the airbag recall service--they said they've seen this numerous times now, all in vehicles that had the airbag recall service done. Some of the common red flags they made us aware of were: Horn is not working, as well as the cruise control. We took it to palm beach Toyota in West palm beach, Florida, this morning, and they diagnosed it as a spiral cable assembly that needs to be replaced--at a cost to us of $700 plus tax. That is something that should be covered under the recall, since it appears to be such a common occurance, it's obvious that this stems from the airbag recall service.

Just purchased as a used truck, the body is in real good shape but the frame is rusted. Called Toyota to be told that there was a limited service campaign to undercoat the frame but that campaign has ended. I tried to remove the hitch from the receiver a couple days after I took delivery of the truck, it would not come out. I crawled under the truck to see if it had been welded up or something to keep it from coming out, no weld just rust. I didn't notice the rust as it is under the back side of the frame at the receiver. The rest of the frame looks as if the undercoating is holding without additional rust. I hope that Toyota will do right by this at some point.

The frame is rusting thru on the entire truck. Rust has overtaken the entirety of the frame and needs replaced. I could not located any recalls or information on recalls for this year model truck. I looks like the year prior and after have had recalls. This needs to be addressed immediately and I have seen other vehicle owners with this year model describe the same problems. While driving started to notice steering issue and had it looked at and it was not good. Bad rust. I have not had it repaired yet and just found this about a week ago and trying to find information on what to do and if any recalls. I called Toyota and they said they sent out something to previous owners and there is nothing that they can do now.

Frame recall- my 2004 Tundra was recalled for the frame rusting out. Toyota deemed that a new frame was not needed and did the crc treatment which is absolute junk and only causes the frame to rust even worse. I want a new frame installed by toyata and any other rusty part- all should be replaced free of charge

Upon inspection of truck for oil leak, found that right side frame rail was severly rusted/rotted near where the sway bar mount is attached to the frame. Bracket for sway bar has separated from frame, and multiple holes (from corrosion) exist on the bottom of the frame rails. I took truck to dealer who informed me that the "limited service campaign" expired July 31, 2015, and that my truck was covered, but the previous owner never took it in for inspection. Called Toyota corporate customer service and was escalated to specialized case manager. I gave them the history of the truck, that I bought it in October 2015, and that it was dealer servcied in 2013 and 2014 - but the dealer never checked the frame.Toyota has denied the claim saying they will take no further action - even though this is a known issue, and now a safety concern.
