I am so upset with VW, this car is an expensive German car yet I feel that the Toyota and Hondas would have been better for me. The door harness repair is something that they should be covering seeing that you have to get the parts from the dealership. This is very sad. I will never buy or suggest a VW to anyone I know.

I have put in over $3,000.00 into this car in the last six months and nothing is still working properly. It was working fine in the beginning, then everything at once. I never had that problem with my other cars. They need to do a recall on it and fix the issue.

The drivers side wiring harness failed, as happens often with this model/year.

The problem is that the rear windows and locks won't work now.

Annoying!

Found out that VW knew of this harness having a problem but stopped fixing it for free in April 2015. Called the company and they have no intentions of helping me with the repair. I don't care how old it is, if they were aware of this, it shouldn't matter how old the car is!

All the buttons on the driver side of my 2006 VW Jetta are not working. I could not fill up the gas, because the door will not open. I have to use a flat screw driver to open it which cause scratches on the paint. I could not roll down the windows, because the buttons are not working. The trunk and driver's side power lock are not working either. The buttons work when the driver door is open, but when it is closed, they don't work anymore.

I brought the car to the mechanic, but they can't fix it because the problem is with the wiring harness.I have to bring my car to the dealer. On July 16/15, I called Kuhn VW, a local VW dealer where I live and asked if there's a recall on it or not. One of the operator/technician said that they will check on it, however, I have not had any phone call from them to resolve this matter. I looked up online about this similar problems and found out that a lot of people have the same problems as well. Since I'm not the only complaint about this matter, VW of America should consider fixing these problems.

In addition to the door lock not working, the automatic trunk lock, the driver window will not roll down, the driver side mirror will not work, the gas cap will not open and I continue to get a warning sign on my dashboard panel. All of these problems occurred at the same time a few days ago. Prior to taking my vehicle in to be fixed, I researched these issues and found that alot of 2006 Volkswagen 2.5 owners have also experienced the same issue which appears to be a manufacturing defect in which the wiring harness is [being made] too short -which causes damage to the various wires within that harness. When I purchased my vehicle from Williamsburg Chrysler Jeep Dodge, I also purchased an extended warranty from Fidelity Warranty Services. I chose the Gold-Plus Plan which was right under the Platinum. This morning, I was notified by the dealership and informed that the source of the problem was the wiring harness which would need to be replaced. Unfortunately, however, my Gold-Plus extended warranty is refusing to cover the necessary repairs. Therefore, I've copied and pasted the electrical coverage section of the "GOLD-PLUS" plan below. Any helpful advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated....Respectfully, jhaskell67 :)

I love most everything about my 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, but then My driver side door went completely kaput. It just Died. I did not know what to do, My Door will not lock, The window will not roll Down, The Trunk and Gas cap will not open as they pop open from the controls. I am hoping I can find a way to open the Gas cap. Any Ideas? I have hopes that Volkswagen will step up and fix this as I love the car but I hear it can be upwards of 500.00 to fix. Please Help.

I read on your site that vw will be sending out notices to Jetta owners...is this is Canada as we'll. My car will not unlock any doors, roll down any windows, can't get into the trunk and had to buzz through my trunk cover to get to the gas cap...cause that wouldn't open either. I'm not sure why this isn't a safety hazard when the temperature is in the 90's and I can't open my driver's window and have to lean across the car to open the passenger window. I saw on you tube that Volkswagen acknowledged that the harness was 80 mm,s too short..If that is the case why was there no recall?

Enough of my ranting now could you please tell me if the notices will be mailed to Canadian owners??

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated..

Thank You

Typical VW issue and refusal to own up to it. A temp fix: splice broken wires and then have new harness installed. This is a world wide problem that they have yet to do anything about, other than offering a new "longer harness" for sale at $238 and $256 labor to install. This company consistently puts out high priced junk and only moves when a class action is brought. Never again.

I am the original owner of my 06 Jetta and always referred to it as my "poor girl's Audi". I got the car October 2005 as they rolled off the assembly line and it has served me well. My electrical system has gone haywire lately....had to replace the moonroof switch and this morning the driver's door is DEAD!!! I'm guessing from what I've been reading it's the wiring harness....does anyone know if there was a recall for this??

The driver's side window, locks, trunk and gas release in my vehicle stopped working completely. When I took the vehicle to the dealer they told me the cause was a faulty driver's side door harness. There were several wires that were broken or about to break, and they suggested I replace it immediately. I was quoted over $400 for parts and labor. This issue was recalled on the earlier models, and then fixed on the 2008 and later models during production. However the 2006 and 2007 models are still affected by the problem. Volkswagen has not issued a recall for this crucial part. I know Ohio there is some class action suit taking place to try to get VW to step up and take care of their owners. Will wait and see.

The wiring for the door lock actuator on the drivers side door has a short that caused the alarm to go off sometimes. According to some googling the cause of the problem is that the wires are too short so they get stretched when you open and close the door. The dealer wanted $500 to fix it and I told them to skip it. For one I think they would probably screw it up because I have had nothing but bad experiences with VW dealerships. And 2, it's just not that important to fix on a car with 200,000 miles. I only plan on fixing things that prevent the car from going.
