Jetta 2.5L

I had less than 115,00 miles when this issue occurred; however, it was around maybe around 110,000. After fueling the vehicle would not start, then battery was drained following. I had to purchase battery for over 250 dollars. As for the fueling issue, a sensor was purchased and repaired.

This has been a problem for the last few months. Thought it was a battery problem (which i was told it needs to be changed, so i did), but the problem has continued. Hearing noises too coming from the back underneath the car. Afraid to call the dealer, but if this has been a problem on this model they should fix it. We'll see what happens.

I had been hearing a thud noise from what sounds like underneath the car, you can even feel the vibration and shortly after hearing that for the first time, out of the blue - by the way, my check engine light came on. So then two days later I stop by the gas station to refuel and the car will not start, it turned but wouldn't catch. After three turns with nothing I decided to give it a little gas while turning and eurika! it caught. Have refueled since with no issues, however I still hear the "thud noise" and its is more often now. Check engine light continues to stay lit. I took it to my family mechanic and he said I over-filled the gas tank or I got "bad gas" and nothing is wrong, however light came back on after about 45 minutes from leaving his shop. And does not explain "thud" noise. Computer code says something about EVP emissions... I have made an appointment with VW, although I know they will rape me at 75$ for diagnostic code reading and 100$ and hour I HATE to take it there. I JUST had the catalytic converter changed with them a month ago, it was free because I'm under 80k on my car. Tonight I am going to buy some gas treatment to put in and see if that helps. WHO knows!!! I have owned my VW for 1 year this month and have had nothing but issues, so annoying!!! Next time around Ill be buying another Toyota.

Jetta 2.5L

  • Manual transmission
  • 86,781 miles

There was a knocking/tapping noise coming from the area of the fuel tank. The car wouldn't start after I put gas in it (didn't matter if it was a little gas or a full tank). Apparently the n80 valve is crap. They tried to say it was a result of topping of the tank (something I have NEVER done with my cars, so I don't buy that excuse). The knocking has started again this week, and I'm wary to put gas in the car as the chances are high that I'll be stuck in front of the pump again.
