The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact had not experienced a failure until the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 14V796000 (power train). Upon leaving the dealer, there was a strong vibration in the rear of the vehicle. In addition, the rear axle nut seized and the rear axle assembly caused the two rear tires to flatten. The vehicle was unable to be driven due to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was not available.

I was driving in the far left lane at 65mph on the freeway and all of a sudden without warning, I heard a loud banging noise at the back end of the truck. The back end of my truck was being thrown around causing me to almost lose ntrol of the vehicle nearly causing a bad accident. I pulled over on the left shoulder and the truck came to a screeching stop. I was pretty shaken up. I got out and at first thought I blew a tire. Then looked and the tires were fine, so then I looked underneath my truck and saw the drives haft came out of the rear differential. I was not in a safe place on the left shoulder, as its in the middle of the freeway. I immediately called for a tow truck. The tow truck couldn't tow as the rear end was completely locked up. The California highway patrol tow truck showed up, and an officer had to shut down a crowded freeway to get me and my truck off the freeway safely. Later in the day I researched and found out about a recall on the 2005 Ram 1500. I contacted the previous owner who was the original owner, and he was never notified of this particular recall. I am in the process of contacting Dodge to see what they are going to do about it. They are responsible for putting safe vehicles on the road. I could have been killed and possibly hurt others. These trucks are not safe unless this issue is fixed. It happens without warning, so if you own one, get it taken care of right away!!!

My truck has the P77nhtsa 14V-796 recall notice (rear axle pinion nut). I contacted my local dealership when I received the 1st notice (nearly 2 years ago) and was told the part required was currently unavailable but I would be put on a waiting list and be contacted as soon as possible for the repair. I have contacted my local dealer again each time I have received another notice for this same recall and each time I have been given the same response that the part is still unavailable. I cannot understand how a potentially deadly issue such as this rear axle pinion nut failing cannot be addressed in 2 years time. I don't know if this is Chrysler's lack of concern or my local dealership. I was told again this morning that the part would be ordered specifically for me but that it was still nationally unavailable. Who is responsible if serious injury or death to me or my family occurs due to this lack of response from Chrysler? any help with this problem would be appreciated.

My vehicle has two safety recalls. I've been calling the local dealer here for over a year and they refuse to make these repairs. I continually told the parts are not in, and that they are not notified when parts will be available, but they call me constantly trying to sell me a new vehicle. Rear pinion nut, drive shaft recall. In novembe while driving the rear pinion nut came a loose sending the drive shaft into the transfer case completely breaking the whole thing ripped the rear gears and locking up wheels.after 2 mos. Of trying finally got a Chrysler Dodge dealer to accept my truck under the recall. After almost a mos. In shop $1100 worth of repairs that I had to pay for that werent there prior to the incident, I got my truck back 2 weeks later it happen again. This time it was just the transfer case that was damaged. Towed it back to dealership, this time I had to pay $400 because 4X4 sensor was bad and because of the year of my truck its sold with 2 other switches and they werent going to warranty the work if I didnt pay to have switches changed by them. Mind you the light wasnt on prior to this happening the 2nd time. I called chryler Corp explained to them what was going on and they told me that there is nothing they can do and they dont get involved with there dealerships. Now here I am 2 weeks later took a road trip to Georgia and boom it happened again while im driving I just see smoke coming out from under my truck, I manage to pull over and the transfer case explodes again. I get it to Dodge dealership in gwinnette they find out the drive shaft is bent and was never replaced from when it exploded the first time. It took Chrysler a week to respond to the dealership in gwinnette on how to procede. Its been 3 weeks havent gotten a return call from Chrysler. No accommadations have been made for me. Im stranded with no vehicle wasted my whole entire vacation. Vehicle still not repaired.
