QX60

  • CVT transmission
  • 31,000 miles

Bought Infiniti QX60 new in 2017. Supposedly a luxury suv. Road smooth for two years. CVT developed a hum that dealer calls a drone between 20-40 miles. Its constant. After returning it three time dealer says “know issue by Infiniti with no fix” they gave me Infiniti consumer compliant #. Spoke with Infiniti rep. They said they would check with engineering and get back to me. Next day I got that call back. Rep says that's the way the CVT tranny functions. Had no explanation why it suddenly showed up at 31,000 miles.

I lost it with rep. Told her Infiniti should be embarrassed to sell a luxury car that has these types of issues or are simply taking advantage of the consumer. After Research it appears the earlier qx60 also had cvt issues that resulted in a class action lawsuit.

While the car was ok for two years it's obvious its a piece of #$&#. The dealer actually asked if i wanted to trade it in? Offering 1/2 of what I paid for it two years earlier. I told him I wouldn't buy an Infiniti product if it was discounted 50% the product is marketed as luxury when in reality it quickly turns to junk.

Based on my research the problem will not only continue but get worse as others report slippage in the tranny as well.

I'm going to take a beating on the value but its tine to get rid of it. Shopping for luxury suv with a traditional gear transmission,

Will never do business with Infiniti or Nissan which also has the same issue

QX60 3.5L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 79,454 miles

First repair shop said it's a transfer case, then they said transmission too. They added coupling assembly. Called few different dealers and answer was parts were back ordered. They said it will cost me close to $8K. Warranty department said it was 70k or 3 years. Car is 2 years old and problem occurred right after 70K miles. Amazing timing right?! I have appointment with a transmission shop to rebuild maybe. This will be last Infiniti I ever buy. Very disappointing ........it's not slipping, it's just too loud.
