1995 Mazda 6, concerned that the air bag explosions does not include cars manufactured before the year 2000...updated 02/12/15 the consumer stated her son was driving, when suddenly the air bags spontaneously exploded, filling the front of the car with smoke and flying shrapnel in addition to the deflated material from the air bag itself. Her son's hand was burned. The consumer stated the air bag explosion was not the result of an accident of any kind, not even a pot hole or rough road.
While consumer was driving at 30 mph both tires on the passenger's side blew out, and both air bags deployed, striking the consumer in the face. The tires were not brand name tires.
While driving at low speeds driver and passenger airbags inadvertently deployed. Passenger had a temporary loss of hearing. Cause of air bag deployment was unknown.
Consumers wheels locked-up when applying brakes, causing vehicle to rear-end another vehicle. The front of vehicle was smashed requiring a new front end clip, also the airbags did not deploy in the accident.
Air bag light has flashed off and on intermittently on dash. Also, a 19 day old battery was dead. Consumer has contacted dealer. The consumer is concerned about air bag safety and would like to know if there had been a recall.
While driving without collision occurring the driver's and passenger's air bags deployed, vehicle was included in recall 98V249000. However, recall remedy did not correct the problem.
Driving at 35 mph, the vehicle ran over a pothole and both driver's and passenger's side air bags deployed, causing injuries to the occupant. Cannot determine the problem. Dup of 813524, added on 25-Feb-98.
