My car hit about 50k and the steering started to feel off. Over the months at slow speeds, slow turning, backing up, the wheel would pop and shift while turning. Took into Mazda dealership and said the steering rack had failed, they don't know why, but a new one would be $1069 ($500 for part alone). Had it replaced and was given a warranty on the part (12k miles or 1 year). TWO WEEKS after the new one went on, I started to hear and feel the same thing again, not as severe. Waited two months just to see, it got worse. Took back in today, they said the steering rack has failed again and they don't know why! It's under warranty so next week it goes back in. This will be my third back in four years!
