MX-6 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 67,000 miles
On my 1995 Mazda Mx-6, with 67,000 miles, the transmission has started behaving erratically. When you put it in drive, it doesn't engage immediately, then eventually engages suddenly with a lurch. I have read on-line that this particular transmission is known to be troublesome. Btw, date is 2003, the form isn't updated yet.

When ithis will be the third replacement for the transmission. The first time St 46,000 then at 79,023 and now at 126,000 this time it is not covered under warranty. I am the original owner of the vehicle, we first leased the car then when the lease was up I purchsed the vehicle. I don't understand why I have to keep replacng the transmission. I call Mazda customer serice and they said there was nothing they could do. Would this fall under the lemon law" I have had a car with over 150,000 miles and never had problems and another where the milage rolled over. What is the deal with this vehicle"I do have the documents where I have had the vehicle repaired. Also I just had engne repair done the cost $1000 in July. I am so sorry I ever purchased this car. Please help.

The automatic transaxle went out at 70,000 miles, I was told it was the front forward clutch and the torque converter. After doing extensive research I have discovered that there has been a huge number of Mazda that have failed transmissions at or near 70,000 miles. Total cost of a re-build: $1,500.

The transmission will reve up/accelerate while driving the car. The RPM's will increase and decrease and it seems the engine is kicking into neutral. It does this at any speed at any time. I have taken the car to the Mazda dealer twice and they have no idea what is going on. If it is not doing the reveing up at the time it is on the diagnotic machine, then they say they do not know what is going on and can not fix the problem.
