power steering was leaking. Leaked out the boot of the rack (steers the wheel). power steering pump burnt out. replaced both from a salvage yard $30 and $50. the yard had A LOT of thunderbird/cougars and i found an almost new rack on one of them.. my fathers 92 lincoln continental also leaks power steering fluid.. it is same motor 6cylinder 3.8.
