This is total B.S. and feel misled and taken advantage of by Ford not once but now twice with 2 different vehicles.

We own a Mercury Mariner 2011 (Ford product) and Ford Mustang 2012 ironically they both have rust issues. The Mercury has rust above the passenger rear tire wheel which started over 2 1/2 years ago when it as well had around 36,000 miles on it and was brought to my attention last summer that the Ford Mustang 2012 has rust on the hood.

I took the Mercury Mariner to a Detroit area Ford Dealership as well over 2 1/2 years ago and was told the same thing, the warranty did not cover paint/rust issues when it had approximately 36,000 miles on it.

Same thing with my Ford Mustang 2012, had approximately 36, 000 miles on it and took it last summer (2016) to the Ford Dealership in Vista, CA and was told they could not help me as paint/rust was not covered under warranty.

I now have the car back at their off-site independent recommended Ford body shop for an unrelated repair as the Ford Dealership does not have a body shop on-site and neither do several of their dealerships where we live in the North County San Diego area. I again was asked by the same body shop tech if we ever took the Mustang to the dealership for the rust issue on the hood as it should be covered under warranty. He also mentioned today that he has repainted many other Ford vehicles as they too have the same issues and he is their preferred body shop. He suggested back in January 2017 about taking the vehicle to the Ford Dealership for the rust issue and obviously forgot the conversation we had at that time when I passed along to him that the Ford Vista Dealership indicated the warranty did not cover the paint/rust issue we were experiencing.

Why is Ford repainting some vehicles with premature rust issues and not all? If their off-site preferred body shop is indicating this is a paint defect why isn't Ford stepping up to the plate and repairing these vehicles experiencing the defects?

It would be greatly appreciated if someone can please help us or how we can obtain help assistance for the premature rusting for these vehicles. My husband is a disabled Navy Veteran and disabled fireman from the Detroit area, however, we now live in North County-San Diego, California area.
