2007 Mercury Milan has the same issue as probably thousands of other Ford vehicles. Specifically the Fusions and Milans. The pulley bolt bends or breaks off allowing the serpentine belt to come off and all power is lost in the charging system, a/c system and the power steering system. An accident waiting to happen, especially if you are going down the highway or turning a corner. Ford Motor Company is well aware of this issue and refuses to do any recall to address it, or reimburse for the repair bills. I am on the 3rd bolt breaking off and back to the shop to try another resolution. First two times, new pulley and bolts. This time the mechanic is recommending using a tap and die tool to make new threads and allowing for a thicker bolt to be used. He is also going to add a nut on the back side and some purple loctite threadlocker. This has to work or we are probably at no options left after this attempt. The last time the bolt broke, my daughter was driving and almost did not make the turn, due to belt coming off and having no power steering. Good thing no accident happened. Ford Motor Co. be advised this is a liability issue for you and has probably caused many accidents and repair bills to the owners of these vehicles. Do the right thing and recall this issue and take care of your customers or lose them.
