Milan Premier 3.0L V6 Awd

  • Automatic transmission
  • 44,000 miles

2010 Mercury Milan V6 AWD Premier 44.000 miles on it and already has hard down shifting problems. Usually in my case it is happening when shifts from fourth to third speed and third to second. Sometimes it is HARD jerk, sometimes is just light jerk also sometimes it jerks when you go from PARKING to DRIVE. Had dealer to check it and was told (COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM) for them it is "NORMAL" shifting.

Unfortunately there is on recall on this issue (dealer told me). There is not any code or wrench light for now. It is annoying and sometimes it is dangerous when this happens in traffic, it looks and feel like something will drop out of car. I got this car 5 month ago and since then I am having problem. Transmission fluid changed but problem is still there. Did dealer software update, paid $150, same problem.

Wish somebody could help with this. It looks like lots of people are having shifting issues with Ford cars. What pity, nice car but VERY, VERY LOW QUALITY:(:( They (Ford) should be ashamed and punished for getting this LOW quality cars to their customers. I will never get Fords car again. Ford should hold responsible for those issues and help customers finding problems and fixing issues.

I am 68 years old and a disabled USMC veteran. My wife will be 74 in October and the car scares her. I bought this car as a program car with 21,xxx miles on it. I have put 17,xxx miles on it in 2.25 years and I have inherited a hell of a situation. Our income is fixed and pretty much spoken for. We have 5 children but 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. We are 2.5 hours from the nearest airport, and I'm the same distance from the VA Hospital.and am very leery about driving this car that distance. Had bypass surgery last October and trying to reduce the stress.

Wondering why the salesman did not warn me about this problem. Took it in for an oil change at the Ford dealership where I bought it, and asked about the transmission. Service guy said, "Oh yeah those models have terrible transmissions. WTF they sold me a car knowing it might have a problem. Yeah, I'm pissed and don't have the money to replace the transmission. What good would it do if the new one craps out as well?

I hate this car. I have to find a way to get rid of it. I've got to get something dependable. It's like it should have made in China stamped on it. I'm worried about my wife using it. We are up in our years, too old to be breaking down on the road somewhere. Dealers cannot be trusted!

Update from May 6, 2014: Local Ford dealer finally checked Transmission Fluid level.on my third request and found the Tranmission was 2 quarts low. I didn't think it could operate that low. So they filled it and I had to ask them to put it on the rack to find the leak. They did an Viola they had to order several part but fortunately it was covered by warranty. Looking back, I think the problem was really with the dealership being uninterested in fixing the problem.
