The car suddenly lost power. The engine does not stop, but goes into what they call "limp home mode" where engine rpm is limited to 900rpm. The car will not go very fast so this is a very dangerous situation. The check engine light is on. The "limp home mode" happened 4 times on a 6 mile trip.
