Car was taken to the Mercury garage because of the smell of strong gasoline vapors. Mercury garage found vapor cannister located under hood of car to be full of fuel, raw gasoline, possibly caused by over-filling of gasoline tank. How is tank over-filled, when gasoline pumps have auto shut-off. Raw gasoline should never be where it is not intended, in the vapor cannister. Could be a very explosive situation. A dangerous and latent defect that cost $245 to correct. But the same hazzardous situation could occur again.
