1994, transmission finally went out at 140,000. When I bought it used at 97,000 he said he spend about 1,000 fixing a part for it. Should have been a clue, but it was a cheap car. I spent $2,000 and lasted me for two years so really it wasn't too bad.
NOTE: Transmission expertise told me that it was a terrible model for Mercury and they have huge transmission issues and that they are made on the same line as the Ford taurus (which I replaced a traney for that too) Oh well....
