The Transmission Range Sensor went out on my car and it would not shift out of third gear when i put the car in drive. This happened shortly after i washed the engine in the car because im a perfectionist and everything has to be squeaky clean. I had to take the car in and have it worked on and it cost me $400 and 3 days for a rental. After they showed me the part i threw a sh*t fit. It was only about 3 inches wide by 1/2 inch thick. I called autozone and asked howmuch the part was and they said $150. So it was $250 labor for something that i thought i could change in 30 min. The sensor connects to the gear selector cable and can be changed easily with common household tools. My car curently has 50,000 miles on it and i bought it used in january 2000 with 15,000 miles on it. After i signed the papers for it i found out it was a rental car and it had been beaten severaly mechanicaly. I know spend an average of $50 a month to fix something on the car. Always ask to see the title of the car before you buy it, even if you buy it from a dealer like i did.
