Overall I've been pleased with the car, except for this occasion and the previous electrical (alternator) problem. The alternator needed to be replaced 3 times before the dealer received a properly assembled new alternator from Mitsubishi in California to fix the 1st problem. Now the 2nd problem is possible an ignition coil problem and/or the transmission problem. The audible sound is only heard in 1st gear. Which can be described as a grinding whirling sound that goes up in pitch (sound wise) with the higher RPMs. The shifting from 1st to 2nd gear is also prolonged when maintaining RPMs above 2000. It used to automatically shift between 2000, 2200 RPMs without hesitation. Now it's hesitating before shifting ,and sometimes I need to remove my foot from the gas pedal to make the shif,t into 2nd gea,r occur. The grinding and whirling sounds is really audible when climbing a hill, big or small, or pulling a trailer with less than 100lbs on the trailer.
