Horn had always gotten stuck since I took ownership of the car but I was always able to stop it by beating on the steering wheel and prying at the steering wheel cap. The demise of the horn happened when I drove 30 minutes to work one day and about five minutes into the drive I used my horn, the horn did not stop. In fact, the horn continued to blow for the remainder of my drive to work. Even continued in the parking lot until the fuse blew. Not only did I have to replace the fuse, steering wheel cap, and some electrical wiring, but the horns themselves.

Two years ago on a really cold night (below zero) my horn decided to randomly go off until I pulled the fuse. I replaced the fuse and a couple nights later my neighbor told be he heard my alarm going off until it died. I have no car alarm it was the horn again. I drove for two years with no horn. Last week I decided to put a new fuse in, to get the horn back, which worked. However, while camping the temperature dropped to about 50 and at 4 in the morning my car woke the whole camp ground up. Guess I will go another two years with no horn.

I was in my home enjoying relaxation time with my family. Then, out the blue, my car was sounding off something terrible. I was shocked, puzzled, and bamboozled!!!! Then, I was like "How am I going to stop this horn"? I tried pressing the buttons on the keys to stop the alarm. Then I began pressing on the horn. It stopped. Of course, that was short lived. I was PISSED CLEAN THE HELL OFF!!!!! People outside looking at my ride and me like a damn fool. I thought I was a damn alien. I kept pressing the horn & it finally stopped. Again, same ol song. I was HEATED!!!!!!! So here it is 2am in the morning and as soon as I doze off, my damn horn decides to serenade the neighborhood. Never again, will I buy another oldsmobile and hell, an American made car!!!! I am so so so done!!!

I just got into Houston after driving from Las Vegas 21 hours straight, I get to sleep and I am being woke up about 5 hours later that my car horn is continuously going off, we hit the horn and it shut off, about 15 min later it went back off and I had to remove the fuse. General Motors is going under, and needs a bailout so bad, why cant they service people who are going to be the only ones who are going to buy their cars and keep them afloat. If we get burned do you think we are honestly going to buy another GM car, I am seriously looking at going and getting an import just because they have better warranties and better vehicles.

At approximately 12:01 AM our apartment maintenance manager was pounding on our door because someone reported a car alarm going off in the parking lot. Lucky me, turns out my piece of crap Alero, which I just bought 22 days ago and has been into the shop 4 times already, is the car!

Because I've had so many problems with this car and luckily already read some complaints at carcomplaints.com I remembered something about we need to unplug the fuse. My maintenance man took off the fuse box cover on the inside of the car (just inside the drivers door on the dash) and the horn stopped.

I read somewhere it can sometimes be caused by cold/hot temperatures, so I moved my car from outside into our underground heated parking garage. Now I'm PRAYING it doesn't start up inside the garage or I'll be receiving a noise complaint from my apartment complex. Can you imagine if I can't fix this problem, I can be kicked out of my apartment for this???

In my opinion the Alero needs to be junked - it should be illegal for anyone to sell them, the problems far outweigh anything good about this car!

W.T.F. Hi, I almost killed my car last night. The horn decided to off about 5 times in the middle of the night to the early morning. My neighbors probably thought I was some A-hole blowing his horn randomly thru the night. After getting no sleep I googled the problem and realized I'm not the only victim of this sick joke. I fixed the problem by removing the fuse, which is located under the hood on the drivers side. The fuse panel is in a plastic box, after you unscrew the wingnut on the box there is a catalyst for the fuses inside the cover. I'm not sure if it's the same for every car but i just had to remove the #43 fuse which is a 15amp.This is not a permanent fix but it's better then my first idea, which was to leave it in a vacant lot till the fuse blew. I hope I don't have to pay a dime to get a real fix but that is very unlikely from what I read. Oh and if I may, F U Oldsmobile for not doing a recall.

At 4:30 this morning I was woke up by my horn. It sounded like someone was just holding the horn down but no one was in the car, it wasn't the alarm because it sounds different and the lights flash. It was very loud and went on for about 20 minutes til my father in law finally got it off. He said he thought it might be a short and he also said he thought he smelled gas when he was trying to get the horn to go off. The car would start just fine and the gas pedal was never pushed. So what could cause the gas smell and the horn just going off like that for no reason??The mechanics around here can't figure it out. They've never heard of it before. Please help. Thanks

One morning my horn went off and stayed on. Pressed horn and it stopped but went to start the car later and it was dead. Next morning same thing happed but I started car right away and ran it for a little while. Two weeks later it happened again, twice in one morning. Started to assure that it would start, it did. Read other people's complaints here and man is this aggravating. I thought Oldsmobile had such a good history, they were ending there product line but I thought that was just a business decision on GM's part, not because they were making them like crap. Replacing air bag assemblies, and other stuff just seems awkward.

Yep - Same as other peoples problem. First the friggin' horn wasn't working, then it was intermittent but would cut in and out if you played with the contacts on the steering wheel pad. Then it went off in the middle of the night. My son went out and pulled the fuse (because he's not a lame ass like the GM people). The dealership is telling us that the horn contacts are integral to the air bag assembly ????????? and that the whole air bag assembly has to be replaced for $800.00 !!!!!!!!!! or $400.00 if we can find one in a bone yard. You mean to tell me that GM designed the car with the horn contacts integral to air bag ??????????? !!!!!!!!! Who the !@#%! in their right right mind would do something so &$%!&#%!in' stupid ?????????

Very odd that this morning I get up and my car horn is on at a constant rate. So, we go outside try all the buttons on the key chain, nothing. Tried to start the car, nothing. Finally, I guess it just blew itself out and quit. Now it won't work at all. I have no clue why the horn just randomly went off. I also find it pretty funny that some other guy on here had the same problem a few days ago with his car with same mileage in same state. hmmm... Anyways, that's what I get for buying a vehicle right before a company went out of business.

Car still ran, but the horn stopped working and alarm system went out. Its not so much the horn going out. We got this car in 2004, its a 03. After a while the cooling system went out. Something about GM radiator coolant is synthetic and corrodes the engine. Whats the killer is you cant change out fluids once its been in the car without a complete Engine flush of everything. Now my car has a electrical problem with starting. It will start sometimes and other times just wont turn over like its out of gas. Its well and good to "buy American" and I love my country I served 6 yrs in Military. But you cant beat the reliability of the Toyota's and Honda's.
