2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Consumer states problem with check engine light and a.I.R. pump the consumer stated the air conditioner failed and was blowing out hot air on the passenger side and cold air on the drivers' side. The wheels were no good. The plating on the inside would come off and create problems for the tires sealing properly, therefore an uneven wear occurred. The consumer also stated he began to have steering problems, there were several lights coming on the dash and going off, but the dealer was unable to diagnose the problem. The consumer began to investigate and discovered the part that was causing the lights to illuminate was the hydraulic brake modulator which cost $1,000. The transmission would shift hard at times and sometimes whine while driving. The turn signals did not always work or they would shut off while blinking. When the cruise control was activated, and the turn signal or head lights were activated the cruise control would deactivate by itself. The rear passenger window stopped working and the sway bar was cracked. Also, the gas pedal would stick at times. The heated seats were too cool on low and too hot on high.

The owner has a problem with the transmission and its jerking when shifting gears. Consumer wants the manufacturer to fix the car because the car only has 50,000 miles, and it is only 5 years old. The car has just started jerking in the past week. The car has not left the owner stranded anywhere yet. Owner had the dealership look at the car, and the dealership gave the owner a $1000 charge. The dealer said it was ta pressure solenoid error. The car has not been fixed as of yet.

There was a slight clicking noise in steering. The consumer stated that the rack and pinion steering assembly failed and was diagnosed on 12/01/2004. A clicking noise was heard in the front end of the vehicle at zero mph or low speed while turning the steering wheel. The power steering fluid was found to be empty. The automatic transmission shifts hard and clunks into successive gears rather than shifting smooothly.

Windshield wipers stopped while driving due to ice and snow. The "transmission assembly" unhooked due to this. An extreme safety hazard existed because of inability to clear windshield while driving. This happened again 2-27-01. There must be a design flaw but GM will not do anything to prevent it they will just repair it when it happens. A second dealer said they are getting 5-6 a week with this problem ( this was dave cross motors 816-524-2233. I cannot drive this car in snow or freezing rain without fear of the wipers stopping and causing a potentially fatal accident but GM doesnt feel it is a problem "just clear the snow and ice away and it wont happen". I want them to design something to prevent this from happening not merely fix it when it happens. I also wanted this to be on file for others who may have these cars to prevent them from having an accident. Thank you for investigating this design flaw.
