Power steering went out when driving through mudd puddles at 40 mph or in car wash. Taken to dealer, belt had come off. Repaired it, but had no answer why it happened. This has happened lots of times. Also, windshield wipers came on while driving, switch has been replaced 5 times. The main belt failed. The water pump failed. The transmission was leaking. Serpentine belt tensioner broke causing belt to brake, loosing power steering capabitlties. This could cause a serious accident if vehicle was driven at highway speed. Manufactuer insists that this is a normal wear item, and not that unusual. Vehicle owner has heard of two other instances such as this although they were not reported. There appears to be potential deadly defect with this part even though the maufactuer will not admit to it. Serious potential for injury exists if the tensioner breaks at highway speeds.
