Charging unit not working, went out twice in 6 months.
Do not buy if you live in S. California! We live in S. California and bought a Polestar 3 earlier this year (4/30/2025) and had nothing but problems. My car is in the shop as we speak and has been in the shop for 4 weeks with no resolution in sight. The GHCA charging unit went out twice on the car, the first time happened about a month after we took delivery. Service is at the local Volvo shop and there is only one technician there who is super rude and unhelpful. For whatever it is worth here is the information on all that went on with this car and company.
Date of First incident: 06/12/25 Description: The car would not charge and a "Charging System Fault" message shows up on the console. Service Station: Volvo service station on Marguerite Parkway in Mission Viejo. Was the issue resolved: Yes How was the issue resolved?: Our understanding is that a new charging GHCA unit was installed allowing us to charge again. How long did it take to resolve: 27 Days. Picked up car on 7/9/2025. Comments: We had to drive to the sales office in the Costa Mesa mall since we we had no other point of contact to be able to solve this. After a long wait and a then a very unpleasant conversation with the manager at the sales office in Costa Mesa, we were finally told to go to the Volvo service station on Marguerite Parkway in Mission Viejo. We have never had such a bad experience with a car company before. Seems like nobody wanted to take responsibility for their brand new car that was malfunctioning. There was absolutely no regard for customer service.
Date of Second Incident: 11/17/25 Service Station: Volvo service station on Marguerite Parkway in Mission Viejo. Was the issue resolved: NO Description: The car would not charge and a "Charging System Fault" message shows up on the console. Took it to the service station and discovered there were no loaners available. Fortunately, the car could be charged using a DC unit. So we took the car back since we could charge at the nearest Tesla Supercharger station located about 5 miles from our house. How long did it take to resolve: Not Resolved Yet Comments: There is absolutely no communication initiated by the technician at the service station regarding the status of the car or the progress of the repair. We have to initiate all conversations regarding the car and we are met with "No updates" curt response. The callousness and the attitude of the technician towards our concerns have no precedent in all our experience of dealing with car companies. We have also left messages with the sales manager who sold us the car about this issue. To date we have not received a response.
