I had overheating problems around Christmas, 2006 (pain in the butt). Out of the blue, the temp guage went into the red, steam started billowing out of the hood. Pulled off the freeway, had plenty of water/anti-freeze. I let it cool down, then drove it another 20 miles with no problems. Took it to my trusted mechanic got a new radiator, etc. Everything seemed to be fine. Then in Feb. ($2K later), when I would pull in the garage after work (a whopping 14 miles), I could smell hot radiator. Didn't think nothing of it. Dropped it to the mechanic for an oil change; he called me with bad news. The engine had a crack in it, my wonderful Saturn was done. I couldn't believe it. I wonder if the overheating, etc. did it? He didn't know. Said he'd only seen that 2 times in his career. Dammit. I love that car. There's NOTHING out there that even compares to the body style. It sucks trying to find a car when you NEED one, not when you want one. Can't find a black Solara with a dark interior to save my life. Am going to look at a used SC2 3 door Saturn, if they can find me one. Thanks for listening. What an experience and a terrific headache.
