The electronic door locks on the car will often open only halfway, preventing the occupant from exiting the vehicle. Both front doors are affected, but the drivers door is affected more often. It is difficult if not impossible to unlock the door manually when this happens. Repeating the unlock process several times is the only way to get the lock to open. This was taken to the dealer for repair, but they told us that the locks were working fine when they had it and that they could not work on it unless they saw the problem actually occurring. I keep a window hammer in the car now.

When we attempted to exit the vehicle we were not able to unlock the doors. The locks would only go up about half ways then lock again. I did some online searching and see there are many people who have had the same complaint. My concern is if in a car accident you can not unlock the doors and you can become trapped in your vehicle. You can not even unlock the doors manually.

I have a 2006 Scion Xb. The back latch (made of fiberglass) has completely broken off on one side. It is impossible to use and is impossible to get into the car using the rear entrance. It is expensive to repair. This is a safety hazard in that if some one was in the car in an accident or if this was the only access to get into the car to help victims access is not available. I have seen 4 cars of this model just in my area that have the same problem. If you have to wait until there is an actual accident this is a inferior system!

The handle for the back hatch on my 2006 Scion Xb has broken. It is still connected by the wires. The handle is very flimsy and there is nothing else to grab onto when trying to open the hatch. I haven't gotten it into the dealer yet, so I don't know how much it will be to fix.
