My 2nd Impreza of which I bought new and did all of the scheduled maintenance and treated like my baby because my goal and reason for buying was the Subaru promise and this car should last for 300k miles. The engine light comes on a couple Mondays ago and reads new solenoid. I live in a town where there is a Subaru factory (lots of Subarus around) and went to the #1 transmission guys who said they have seen this multiple times and have replace the solenoid to find the same customer comes back in a month... they have replaced the valve body compartment to find the same customer comes back in 1-6 months and needs a whole new transmission.

I had a 2013 Impreza where the transmission needed to be replaced and that is how I ended up in the 2015. I went ahead and had someone go through trouble-shooting for the P2764 code (transmission fluid change, check wires, etc to no avail.). Subaru was aware of the problem as evidenced by sending a letter late 2017 stating warranty is extended to 100k miles/10years and if over 100k miles, all transmission work is covered until 2018. I had no issues within that time frame and was told, at a maintenance check, that if there is no check engine light, there is no work to be done. And here we are now--a beautifully maintained car that is now junk because of a known issue that was "not a safety issue, therefore no recall"...
