I have also this same problem since 2017 (66,600 miles).

Engine light comes for evap code p0497 and p0497 p. also "tighten gas cap" displays on the console. It's an annoying problem.

In winter it does not do as much compare to warm weather. I have to replace the canister purge valves. There are 2 for this, one in the engine compartment and one underneath by the muffler. I also replaced the gas cap. No luck :(

If any of you have solved this problem, please let me know the solution. I appreciate your assistance.

We are the second owners. We got the car with only 18,000 miles and up to this point it never needed anything for inspection except the usual wear options, brakes and tires. And it was my wife's most favorite car ever.

I WAS OUT OF TOWN SEPTEMBER THRU NOVEMBER 7TH IN 2014. MY CAR LEFT MY SON STRANDED. I ADVISED HIM TO HAVE IT TOWED TO ADAMS SUZUKI, WHICH HE DID. NOVEMBER TO DECEMBER OF THE SAME YEAR, I WAS ADVISED A NEW ENGINE HAD TO BE INSTALLED. SINCE, I HAVE HAD TO RETURN SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CHECK.

SEVERAL TIMES.

ON MAY 25TH, AGAIN ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I TOOK CAR BACK TO ADAMS SUZUKI. AT WHICH TIME I WAS ADVISED THE CAR HAD TO STAY AND I WAS WITHOUT A MEANS OF TRAVEL. THE CAR DEALER STATED THAT SUZUKI WOULD NOT PAY FOR ANOTHER RENTAL. HOWEVER, THEY WERE NICE ENOUGH TO LOAN ME A NICE MALIBU TO GET HOME IN.

NOW, MY TRUE FEELINGS MAY NOT SOUND SO NICE BUT HERE IT COMES. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A BIG LET DOWN TO ME. I MAINTAIN BOTH CARS ON A REGULAR BASIS AND HAVE AN EXCELLENT MECHANIC. I OWN A 2001 SUZUKI VITARI AND HAVE NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL. BUT THIS 2008 HAS BEEN A GREAT LET DOWN. I CANNOT TRUST THE CAR ANYMORE AND FEEL SUZUKI SHOULD REPLACE SAID CAR WITH ONE I CAN TRUST. HELP.

The engine light is constantly on and no matter what you do it does not go off. It is annoying and with it staying on you don't know if there are other problems you should be aware of. Worst car I have ever bought.

BOUGHT THIS CAR DECEMBER 2014 AS FAIRLY USED. THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT UNABLE TO DISAPPEAR, DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AND HAD THE ERROR CLEARED. IT STILL COMES UP AND REMAINS LIT.
